I was starting to worry that Mindy had lost sight of the one thing that keeps hope alive episode after episode: The romantic comedy. But my fears quickly vanished on Tuesday night's episode of the "Mindy Project," titled "Harry & Sally."
Possibly the most uncomfortable episode of "The Mindy Project" to date, "Danny Castellano Is My Gynecologist" centers on -- you guessed it -- Mindy (Mindy Kaling) asking Danny (Chris Messina) to be her new gynecologist.
While episode 4 of "The Mindy Project" could have been been destroyed by lame pranks and office costume contests, Mindy and the rest of the gang put their own spin on October 31st with creativity, inappropriate costumes and a lot of sweating.
If you were starting to worry that Mindy Lahiri would die alone surrounded by cats, worry no more. She happens to be an expert at conquering the New York City club scene, and even knows how to reel in an NBA player or two.
While there was never any doubt that Mindy Kaling's show would reflect its creator, what's striking about the pilot is just how undiluted it is. It seems that Fox got out of Kaling's way and allowed her to deliver on her vision, one that includes elements that aren't always taken so seriously.
