Toxics Release Inventory

The EPA has unveiled its analysis of a database containing information on the disposal or release of 650 potentially dangerous chemicals used by almost 21,000 facilities. But this provides only a snapshot of the pollution produced by American industry.

Despite the confounded state of international climate policy negotiations, companies will continue to face new mandates to measure, report, and reduce their carbon emissions.

The issue of toxicity and chemicals is one that lies somewhat separate from the climate discussion. While it gets lost in the shuffle sometimes, the pressure on companies to deal with it just keeps rising.
