Millions of people are waking up, stepping away from harsh teachers, false gurus, and beginning to realizing yoga is not about the pose and the shape you can make with your body.

Yoga sells well. Sex sells even better. And sex scandals sell the best. The man in the eye of the storm this time is John Friend, the founder of the Anusara style of yoga.

It's hard to believe that an experienced yoga practitioner and Pulitzer Prize-winning author can inspire such ire, particularly when he concludes his book with a huge endorsement. Maybe those angry yogis never finished the book.

Anyone who thinks that yoga is merely "a kinder version of alcohol" might want to do a reverse pose and get some more blood flowing to her brain. With proper supervision, of course.
