Hubbard Street Dance Chicago brought together three impeccably danced pieces at the Harris Theater Thursday night-one of which was resident choreographer Alejandro Cerrudo's world premiere, The Impossible.
Helen Pickett started dancing at the age of eight after her mother called in and won tickets to see Nutcracker in a contest on the radio. Now, she will be taking on the title of resident choreographer at Atlanta Ballet.
Fluid and changeable, they flatter dancers: Each beautiful position bleeds into the next one, so that mistakes and flaws don't have time to crystallize. Not that it's hard to make Cedar Lake's dancers -- ballet's cool kids -- look good.
