I find portraits so intriguing because you can choose to capture someone in any manner. A painting can express so much more about the subject than a photo, as it is up to the artist's creativity.

While not every child today has the opportunity to dance, act, sing or play an instrument, there will always be a group of extraordinary people who have a need to express themselves and the have ability to do so. We need to continue to provide vehicles for these young artists.

It is 2012, but in the art world it is often still 1966. Some of the "traditions" underlying the business side of the gallery and museum world date back decades. Don't let 'em fool you that they are hip.
