People keep saying that we are in the middle of a historical time, but we have to ask ourselves, "What happened to America?" The America that our parents knew; that we grew up hearing about; and that we hoped for the future of our children had disappeared.
Constitutions are on the verge of being rewritten to take away rights and include discrimination, Wall Street is imploding and the regular person has no idea where the money for their electric bill is going to come from. So yes, there is no doubt we are in a time of historical choices.
Historical times require historical thought and strategy for the future. With great thought and analysis, the solution is clear. Barack Obama is the strategy for the future...the future of America.
As we struggle to keep our heads above water in the storming wake of the past eight years, we must ask ourselves, "Right now, what can we do?"
Well, it is not what can we do, but rather what must we do? We must empower ourselves and take on the fundamental mission to ensure change in order to build a cohesive, profitable and financially stable country.
That mission starts right now, today, this very moment! Make a pledge to yourself and your fellow citizens that this is the moment you decide to make your voice heard. Stand with me on October 12th at 1 o'clock pm and honor that commitment along with other voices of change: Ann and Nancy Wilson of Heart, Patti LaBelle, and Chelsea Handler; just to name a few.
This Sunday at UCLA's Pauley Pavilion is the day we stand together and unite as one voice. This is our future; we have the power of vote and we have it now.
