Behind every well-adorned star there stands a chic, trend-setting stylist that composes the modern looks we see on our favorite celebrities from their accessorized coifs to a perfectly matched pair of stiletto-heeled Louboutins. Tameka had aspirations to develop a career in the fashion industry as early as high school. Her goal was to become a buyer/designer for major boutiques and to eventually have her own. Armed with a strong will to succeed and a sharp eye for fashion, Tameka attended the Fashion Institute of Design and Merchandising (FIDM) in 1994 as a Merch Marketing Major in Los Angeles, California. Her professional career began working in retail (as both salesperson and manager). She went on to work as a dresser for Giorgio Armani and other designer fashion shows while attending FIDM. The resident Atlantan is probably best known for propelling Lauryn Hill’s vintage haute couture look into the limelight, branding her as an international fashion icon.

Her impressive clientele roster ironically parallels that of her fashion philosophy, mixing timeless pieces with street-smart sensibility. Tameka has lent her creative talents to legendary soul singers like Patti Labelle, Chaka Khan and Aretha Franklin to chart-toppers such as Lauryn Hill, Jay-Z, Usher, Toni Braxton, Chris Brown, Mary J. Blige, Ciara, Keri Hilson, Timbaland, Maxwell, The Fugees, Nas, T.I, Janelle Monet, Dr. Dre and more. Her work has covered top magazines Harpers Bazaar, Esquire, GQ, Rolling Stone, Seventeen, People, Teen People, The Source, Vibe and Details.

Tameka herself has graced the pages of high-end fashion publications ranging from Glamour to Essence. Due to her invaluable contribution to the style industry, she has been invited to appear on television shows such as MTV, Good Day Atlanta, E! and Access Hollywood among others.

The fashion stylist, jet-setter, designer and mother is eager to add designer to her list of credits with the preparation of her women’s and maternity clothing line, Hides & Dungarees. As with fashion, her community passions run just as strong, particularly her heartfelt devotion to nurturing children. With her foundation "The Lost Ones", which targets young girls in at-risk environments between the ages of 12-18 years old, Tameka is earning the respect and affection of the community at large. Through this program, she intends to motivate, empower and inspire the lives of these youngsters by having 4-5 day retreats, complete with positive image classes, health and beauty makeovers and testimonials. The Foundation will inspire participants and focus on preventing young women from early pregnancy and dropping out of school. Tameka also participates in Northern California’s Oakland Natives Give Back (www.oaklandnatives.com) which annually donates backpacks full of school supplies to underserved children in her hometown’s communities.
