Tara DelloIacono Thies is a registered dietitian and nutrition strategist for Clif Bar & Company, a leading maker of nutritious and organic foods and drinks for people on-the-go. Guided by the Company’s five bottom lines –- Sustaining our Brands, our Business, our People, our Community and the Planet -– she provides strategic direction and nutrition leadership across all areas of the company ensuring the nutrition integrity for all CLIF brands.

Adept at making complex nutrition science accessible to a variety of audiences, she uses her extensive knowledge to create useful nutrition tools for consumers such as ClifCast podcasts, CLIF Kid’s Nutrition Pocket Guide and nutritional articles on She is the go-to nutrition resource for many food and nutrition editors and has contributed to publications including Stroller Strides Newsletter, Bay Area Parent,, Competitor and Oprah Magazine. Tara also serves as the nutrition spokesperson at Clif Bar & Company marquee sporting events and as a nutrition resource for Healthy Child Healthy World.

Tara puts her sports nutrition knowledge to work by participating in a variety of sports that inform her practical approach to sports nutrition. An avid runner and marathoner, Tara also mountain bikes and practices yoga on a regular basis. As a mother of two active boys, she is both personally and professionally informed about the nutritional needs of children and families.

Before joining Clif Bar & Company over a decade ago, Tara served as a clinical dietitian for Catholic Healthcare West. She is a member of the American College of Sports Medicine and the American Dietetic Association. She holds a bachelor’s degree in dietetics from Montana State University and became a registered dietitian after completing an internship in San Francisco, California.
