Art Basel Diary, Day Three: Thursday, December 6, 2012

If our husky Brenda Vacarro voice is any indication, Art Basel is winning in the endurance category. Just three days of art fairs and parties, and we're ready to check in somewhere with an IV drip. But we can sleep in 2013, we figure.

If our husky Brenda Vacarro voice is any indication, Art Basel is winning in the endurance category. Just three days of art fairs and parties, and we're ready to check in somewhere with an IV drip. But we can sleep in 2013, we figure.

Last night's itinerary (15 events cut down to six, due to the lack of a helipad in Miami Beach) was comprised of some very rewarding events: "Cocktails in the Garden" at Tosca, the new Italian-Rivera-in-the-1950s-vibed restaurant in South Beach where Clive Davis, Manolo Blahnik and Ivana Trump have been sighted; the Armani Jeans store opening on Lincoln Road with superior music being spun by Paul Sevigny and The Misshapes; The Zone Pop-Up featuring art by Stephen Ach and Enrique Badulescu (at which we corrupted the young daughters of the gallerist's friend by teaching them how to pose for the camera with one hand on hip, to better elongate the body); The Interview magazine x amFar party at Soho Beach House (where guests included amfAR chair Kenneth Cole, John Demsey, Bobby Flay, Liz Goldwyn, Russell Simmons, Riccardo Tisco and Dita Von Teese in full-tilt goddess mode, and where a portrait-filled locket created and donated by Cindy Sherman went for the insanely crazy-low sum of $2,000 in the silent auction, at least as per the fiancé, who shirked on his mobile phone-bidding duties due to the close proximity of the bar, one can only assume); the Lacoste/Campana Brothers pool party, also at Soho Beach House; and the Chez Andre pop-up bar at the Shelborne hotel where artist Richard Prince's "Lemon Fizz" beverage by AriZona was being unveiled at a subterranean karaoke party where the trendy crowd included shoe deity Brian Atwood, looking very movie star as per usual.
