J.J. Abrams on the Creative Process That Went Into His New Novel S.

Tonight on PBS, I sit down with award-winning producer J.J. Abrams. He's co-created iconic television programs such as Lost and his directorial film work includes Star Trek and the upcoming Star Wars. Tonight he talks about working on his recently released interactive novel titled S. and his newest show Almost Human.

In the clip below, Abrams shares his thoughts about how sometimes innovation requires looking backwards in order to achieve creativity and authenticity.

For more of our conversation, be sure to tune in to "Tavis Smiley" tonight on PBS. Check out our website for your local TV listings: http://www.pbs.org/tavis. After the show, tweet me @TavisSmiley #J.J.Abrams and let me know what you thought about our conversation.
