On Monday, I spoke with U.S. Asst. Secretary of State, Jendayi Frazer in her first interview since her trip last week to Kenya. Ambassador Frazer traveled to the troubled African nation in hopes of getting both sides in last month's controversial presidential elections to sit down with an international mediator.

I asked Amb. Frazer about the U.S. role in Kenya's electoral process, especially given our own past problems in presidential elections.

No, we didn't have a 50/50 outcome in 2000, and just like Kenya we don't believe in our institutions, and we don't believe our court system is impartial. What we witnessed here in 2000 was basically a coup d"état.

Amb. Frazer was inadvertantly describing the situation right here in the U.S.: no confidence in the institutions; the need for significant reform; election rigging; a presidency too centralized, too powerful.

Promoters of democracy, heal thyself.

Why would you give the Bush Administration precious airtime?

Do you really think that Bush or anyone in his Administration really cares what happens in Kenya?

Give me a break.

By even pretending to give this man or his Administration the pretense of legitimacy is very troubling and has got to stop.

So far, and I think it has been almost one month, Bush has done nothing about Kenya, and you know what, he never will.
