Ms. Dowd strikes again, but this time she takes aim at the rogue HRC supporters, adding a new element. These anti Obama zealots, according to Dowd, have also sworn off ever voting for a man. How predictable for Maureen Dowd to make this turn, given her own 1950s world view still hasn't made the turn to the 21st century. Nevertheless, it's yet another swipe at the determined who long ago turned ridiculous.
It is a truth universally acknowledged that Barack Obama must continue to grovel to Hillary Clinton's dead-enders, some of whom mutter darkly that they will not only not vote for him, they will never vote for a man again.
Obama met for an hour Tuesday with three dozen top Hillaryites at a hotel here, seeking their endorsement and beguiling their begrudging. He opened the session by saying that he knew there had been frustration about what they saw as sexism during the primary. The Los Angeles Times reported that Hillary die-hards want to enshrine a whine in the Democratic platform about how the primaries "exposed pervasive gender bias in the media" and call on party leaders to take "immediate and public steps" to denounce any perceived bias in the future. That is one nutty idea. ...
As one of the most ardent HRC supporters, which continues forward, though I now back Obama, all this hand wringing by former HRC supporters now turned anti Obama zealots, people who can't move on with grace, has now succeeded in nothing, except getting them a very bad name, while making themselves politically toxic, even to Hillary.
That these same people won't listen to reason isn't because it hasn't been offered and given in good faith. All that's needed for a new energy burst is a phrase or video to send them screaming outrage again. The denial they court is too seductive in an echo chamber that promises hope, but only delivers deceit by offering claims of something that will not come. Their political naiveté, turned to desperation, now brings only embarrassment since they're putting their own petty personal grievances before everything else, even Senator Clinton, while posturing that their anti-Obama zealotry is something it's not, which is obvious to see. They have also managed to take their cause and turn it into something that gets snorts of disrespect that resembles disgust from most Democrats, while Republicans smack their chops with anticipation, using them whenever the chance arises, which is whenever they're asked.
The other thing that's happened is that most of these rogue HRC supporters have become what they hated most. They are as bad or worse as the Obama supporters during the primaries who bombarded sites, especially this one, comment sections, hitting bloggers with vitriol and hate screed emails, including posts written by the unhinged comprised of such nonsensical gibberish that the vast majority of Democrats trying to turn the Republicans out have come to disrespect them completely.
Effectiveness dies when no one is listening and instead, what once might have been a mission has been made into a punch line or worse. A traffic driver at a time when summertime laziness slows everything down and people simply take advantage of the latest political train wreck in a season that stars Britney, Paris, and McCain campaign ads channeling Charlton Heston as Moses.

From what I've read in some of the comment sections IN articles about the PUMA crowd is this; it's doubtful they are even real democrats, especially when they use the code words to describe like the "democrat" party-stuff like that. Good to see over here on the dark side now Taylor...
We are democrats. Lifelong. We voted loyally for a party that trashed the true core democrat. I was a part of the hillary blogosphere before PUMA came around. We were the ones on DU who were trashed repeatedly.
We moved on and now we are PUMAs and we have expanded. Becasue the sexism towards clinton was disgusting.
Dear Ms. Marsh,
I believe you're getting too worked up for no reason, you know as well as I that at the end of the day these Women are on top of the game and will act accordingly. In spite of being treated as second class citizens throught history and fighting against overwhelming odds the American Woman has taken the high road and have always done what's best for our beloved Country from the time of the Molly Pitcher's in our Reveloutionary war. I trust them, I know where their hearts are, bless'em. Agape.
Wow Taylor. Just wow.
...one blog in particular that I regularly read is just loaded with crazed, illogical, petty claptrap. They have a ticker as well for how much they've raised to pay down Hilary's debt. It has yet to go above 15K. This blog blocks any contrary comments, and so it's become this paranoid echo chamber. Random griping, comments by the same 15-20 people. And yet they call themselves a movement. They've even likened themselves to the Founding Fathers. Nuts. (Oh and they all have super-gifted children).
I remember how spirited your support of Hilary was. I applaud your maturity and, above all, your RATIONAL behavior. It's so disappointing to see the HRC anti-Obama supporters
So I'm very happy to see such a thoughtful piece come from you. I know that, deep down, you wish HRC was the nominee. But you're able to act rationally, thoughtfully, and pragmatically with what's possible at this point.
Again, since I've followed your blog for so long, I know how meaningful it is to read something like this from you. Cheers.
Wait...did I really just read this...by Taylor Marsh?
i jumped on hillaryis44 the other day, and it was venomous in a cartoonish way. i'm guessing that most of the geniuses posting to that site are rethugs.
When I read them touting something Michele Malkin said, I knew they weren't really Dems.
Bingo
It would never happen that all Hillary supporters would switch their support to Obama. You can't expect that. I would probably only vote for Obama if Hillary is on the ticket. Otherwise, there are plenty of reasons to go from Hillary to McCain, and none of them concern issues or party.
Now I await Obama's choice for a running mate. I no longer expect it to be Hillary but if he picks a Clintonista instead of an Obama sycophant there is a chance I would vote for this untried young man.
And then there is the convention. Hillary deserves center stage at the convention. I will be watching.
center stage at the convention is reserved for...the nominee. crazy, i know.
The winner deserves center stage, not the loser.
And if the winner was legitimate ......most Hill's would honor that. First of all he is still the presumptive winner.... ....who does himself no favors by being arrogant and presumptuous.
If every democrat that didn't initially support Obama would vote POLICY, then the choice is obvious.
There is no contest. To vote for McCain is to vote against Hillary and everything she stands for.
ding ding
Sure, 0-man, doppleganger, got his policies from Hill at the debates... ......reme mber..."I basically agree with what Hillary said"
What does it take to get people like you to understand that for some of us, not voting for Obama has nothing to do with Hillary? I'm not voting for him for one simple reason: I don't believe he's experienced enough or competent enough to run the country. Period. End of story.
Obama is just as experienced + or - a couple years. He is much smarter: he was best of the best at the best law school in the country and taught law while Mrs. Clinton couldn't pass the DC Bar. And he didnt rely on his spouse to launch his political career.
His lack of qualifications and experience has been posted over and over; so believe what you want. Also grant those that don't support him for these reasons the same courtesy.
These shills want Obama to pay for everything every man ever did wrong to them. Thats what happenes when you turn a political campaign into a womans movement. Willfull beligerant ignorance. With that said they will distruct on thier own. uggghhh! I say lets not appeal to them let them go there way because you will never be able to satisfiy them.
"Thats what happens when you turn a political campaign into a womans movement. "
That's it in a nutshell. Thanks for giving me a clear sentence to sum up what I've been looking at. That's exactly what they've done.
It was just a part of the women's moment. It was that she was anatomically correct. If it was ever about the issues, then Obama would not be anathema because he shares her belief in so many of them. The point is the progression, another march for women, keep lit the eternal flame of "bra burning".
Okay then. No wonder Obama can't please them.
And lucky Hillary was born a woman. Darned lucky. Without the gender, she'd be nothing to them.
If you believe that this is a "woman's movement", go ahead, but it has little to do with that. Of course, some of us object to the sexism which was rampant in the primaries, but there is so much more to it.
Amen! On point and much appreciated. The PUMAS continue to demonstrate that they are for nothing and against everyone who doesn't let them have their way - a sad reason to organize.
I think these "dead-enders" are the logical result of the vitriole directed at BHO by HRC and her surrogates. Like it or not, there were a non-trivial number of people listening to those surrogates and buying it all, hook, line and sinker, without realizing that it was 99% political spin.
"are the logical result of the vitriole directed at BHO by HRC"
Give me a break. That vitriol was on a one way street running the other way.
