In honor of Earth Day this month, it's the perfect time to think about the ways we can protect our environment (if you don't already!). And contrary to what you might think, going green doesn't have to mean a drastic lifestyle change like becoming a vegan or fitting three years worth of trash in a mason jar. In fact, it can be as easy as heading to the mall, which, let's face it, you'll probably do at some point this month anyway. There are a few brands that encourage you to recycle and return containers once you're done using them by rewarding your good deed with brand-new products -- for free or a great discount. Sound too good to be true? Below, we've rounded up our favorite beauty recycling programs.

1. Bond No. 9

Bring your empty perfume bottles -- regardless of brand -- to any Bond No. 9 counter and you get a free refill. Tiny caveat: you have to purchase any two Bond No. 9 items (excluding the pocket spray), but if you're a fragrance fanatic, it's a steal.

2. LUSH

Bring back five empty, clean black LUSH pots to your local store for recycling and they'll give you a Fresh Face Mask for free. We love the Cupcake mask -- it smells just like chocolate cupcakes and it's great for acne-prone skin.

3. Kiehl's

Through the brand's Recycle and Be Rewarded program, return a full-size product and receive a stamp. After you collect 10 stamps, you get to choose any travel-size product for free. Plus, while you're in the store, pick up their limited-edition version of the Creamy Eye Treatment and 100% of net profits (up to $50,000) from sales will go to Recycle Across America.

4. MAC Cosmetics

With their Back-to-MAC program, bring in any six empty MAC makeup or skincare containers and you'll get a free MAC lipstick of your choice. Perhaps a Halsey-inspired blue?

5. Zoya

We have a slight problem with hoarding nail polishes. But with the brand's Earth Day Exchange, you can exchange any old or unwanted nail polish bottles (regardless of brand) for a 50% discount on a brand-new Zoya shade using code "ZGREEN" at checkout from now until April 30. We're so into this perfectly springy pink shade called Tulip, but you can pick any color.
