Terry Smith is a Distinguished Research Professor of Law at DePaul College of Law in Chicago, where he teaches voting rights and election law. A former federal court of appeals clerk, he has written in these areas for the past seventeen years, and has published in the Duke Law Journal and Columbia Law Review, among other legal periodicals. He is currently writing a book on the demise of left-of-center black politics.
