You're sitting in front of the TV one night, absent-mindedly flipping through the channels. Between the news broadcasts and reality TV shows you see people, not unlike you, doing some incredible things.

On one channel explorers are making their way across a gigantic glacier, on another surfers are gracefully riding waves and on a third channel a couple is enjoying wine in infamous Napa Valley, while the sun sets behind them. You see this and maybe you wish you could take adventures like that; well, you can.

From Alaska to Kenya, here are some remarkable destinations and the top thing you should do while visiting each one.

Snorkeling in Bora Bora—French Polynesia
Known world-wide for breathtaking sunsets, five-star resorts and those iconic overwater bungalows, Bora Bora is more than just honeymoon hotspot. The island encircled by a lagoon and barrier reef, with two peaks formed by volcanic activity has a lot to offer outdoor adventurers. Water sports are especially popular and snorkeling is one such activity you shouldn’t miss. Head to the Coral Garden, an underwater park teeming with tropical fish or hire a guide to lead you to some of the lesser-known spots. Hiking Matanuska Glacier—Alaska
Set in America’s wildest state, the largest Alaskan glacier accessible by car is just a quick two hour drive from Anchorage and it’s open year-round. The 26-mile-long Matanuska Glacier is set amid the towering Chugach Mountains and the sight alone is wildly impressive. For those craving a little more than dramatic views, adventure seekers can actually hike on the glacier; but for accessing the most incredible ridgelines, you should hire one of the many local guides and get outfitted with the right gear. The seemingly unending mounds of sand that splay out in every direction make up a large part of the Sahara Desert and draw travelers by way of natural beauty and an real challenge. Partying in Mykonos—Greece
Undoubtedly one of the top party destinations in the world, Mykonos comes alive in the summer. The world-renowned party island celebrates around the clock, with celebrations on the beach starting well before sundown, in-town revelries lasting into the morning hours and after parties lively until the morning light in clubs by the beach.
