Guy Fieri Jewelry Line Makes Us Question His Taste

Posted: 12/28/2011 10:04 am

When I think of Guy Fieri, I think absolute craziness. The spiky-haired culinary rock star has made a name for himself hosting foodtastic shows like Diners, Drive-ins and Dives and Tailgate Warriors on Food Network. Now, he's taking on a different, more dainty venture: the jewelry business.

Fieri has teamed up with Room 101 Jewelry and deals website Open Sky for his "off-da-hook" line. Featuring items like a set of cuff links for $75, dog tags for $75, and chain bracelets for a cool $175, the line most definitely reflects Guy's over-the-top personality.

I can get over the hilarious fact that foodie Guy Fieri has his own jewelry line. What I can't get over is how gaudy all of it is. If I was to see any man wearing this sort of stuff, I'd run in the other direction immediately.

Men wearing jewelry has always been a tough idea for me to swallow. I'm more of a simplistic gal, I guess. Seeing a guy rock a classic chain his father gave him, that's sweet. A wedding ring? Of course, that's totally fantastic in my book. However, a blingtastic dog tag necklace a la Guy Fieri is just unnecessary. Period.

I was under the impression that this stuff got left behind in high school, no? In fact, these "off-da-hook" pieces make me think of something my 14-year-old angsty neighbor would wear from Hot Topic. If any man I was remotely interested in was to put on one of these chain bracelets and was not completely joking, I'd totally rethink our situation.

I respect Guy for trying something new, I really do. However, I just can't get over the tackiness of it all. Stick to selling deluxe meat packs, Guy. I think you'll be better off.

What do you think of Guy's jewelry line? What about men wearing jewelry in general?

I had to boycott Fieri after hearing him describe something as "off the hook" and "off the chain" for the gazillionth time. He needs to seriously go away for awhile. Although I can see why he's diversifying though--actual cooking doesn't seem to be his strong point anyway. His voice is much too abrasive to listen to for more than a couple of minutes anyway.

Note to Food Network--Guy Fieri is WAY overexposed and time to rein him in.

is that a Fieri necklace your wearing? sounds gay. actually any self respecting gay wouldn't be caught wearing any of this stuff. don't know who would buy it let alone wear it.

He has become so obnoxious. They show way too much of him and now our house is “Guy Fieri” Free.

Did they ever find his "Lambo" that was stolen out of a dealership in SF or did it end up in Russia?

I like Guy, too, but, come on - did you really expect subtle and classy?

I can see it now... a studded rhinestone Blueberry manhole cover to "Flavor town" that you wear around your neck. This guy has flipped his gizzard. I think Guy has kind of lost his focus. There are some nasty tabloids accusing him of sexist behavior and I lost a little respect for him to be quite honest. He needs to clean up his image. This jewelry thing is a total 360 and is taking him away from the food thing. I just saw a bottle of his new Kansas City BBQ sauce at Meijers market today. I looked at it and it seems a bit runny to me and makes me wonder if the quality is there.

I totally agree with Emily. But then I always turn the channel when Guy comes on. He looks ridiculous and he's just a loud mouth. On the other hand, DDD is a good concept. Give me a new host and I'll watch.

Guy has great taste in cars and I like many of the places he has visited on his show, Diners Drive-ins and dives. As for his jewelry, not so great.......

It took a jewelry line to make you question his taste?

Have you never seen his hair?

I looked at the line. This is the kind of stuff he wears. I was just suprised that there wasn't a ring.

FYI - I would never buy any of it for any guy in my life.

Most jewelry on men is a joke anyway. This, more so.

Guy is not for everyone. I'm not a big fan. But, I do see how he has his appeal and he has many fans. Different tastes than mine, but that's fine.

But, this jewelry? Come on, Guy, stick to the food.

Funny how tastes differ; in a Sherlock Holmes story (I forget which one just now), Watson talkes about superfluous things "like earrings on a pretty girl".

I like jewelry on men. My contractor showed up with earrings in both ears and a necklace. Very sexy. A shock, then, when he spent the day doing my siding blasting Rush and Glenn Beck on his radio.

So, he goes from someone who I'd never heard of, to a guy on a TV show who's worked in a kitchen while in high school, and worked for and promoted some fast-food chains.

His taste in bling and food seem to be in good alignment.

He owns two restaurants, and owned his own hot pretzel cart as a child. He has two more shows on the Food Network they didn't mention, studied in France, and probably makes more than everyone who has commented so far put together.
10:36 PM on 12/29/2011
oh please..spare me..the study in France part..if you have the money you can study in France..to be excepted to a true culinary school in France...you need more then a history with a hot pretzel cart..Guy does not have or will ever have..the class that a French culinary chef demands...as for making money...so do the Kathrasians..and what do they have to offer...i truly think that all this NO talent buzz..making money out of nothing is a sign of the decay of this country.
