* Much of politics can be divided between the pathetic and the obscene. David Brooks writing that on foreign policy the Bush administration has "become addicted to candor and forthrightness"; and the New York Times now planning to charge for the privilege of such insight, is pathetic. A group of US Catholic Bishops decreeing that any Catholic who didn't adhere to church teaching on abortion, gay marriage and stem cells would be "cooperating in evil", while rancid Vatican pool boy Cardinal Law, who absolved more anal penetration than Toni Bentley, gets to lounge around a basilica instead of rotting in prison....that's obscene.
* Newsweek should simply steal a page from the Bush administration and award Michael Isikoff 'The Journalist's Medal of Freedom'...a heavy gold medal on royal blue velvet ribbon with a delicate little clasp on the back...perhaps depicting Judith Miller taking dictation in lieu of reporting.
* Mainstream conservative values- the best way to prevent teen pregnancy is abstinence, the best way to stop a nuclear missile is mid-flight.
* Satellite photos indicate North Korea may be preparing to detonate a nuclear bomb. Apparently they show a giant hole having been dug then refilled, and what may be some sort of reviewing stand. Here's the question...even if it's 'Helmet Night', why would anyone want to be in the grandstands for a nuclear test?
* Finally...another round of tapes has been released by the LBJ library. Seems like the historical significance has waned a bit. Here's a phone conversation between LBJ and Everitt Dirksen from late 1964...Click Here Or maybe we made it up.
