From The UpTake

Contrary to what you might hear the legacy media say, voters in Oregon don't think the long campaign has hurt the Democratic party's chances in the 2008 Presidential election. For the first time in recent memory, Oregon's May 20th primary actually matters in Presidential politics. The UpTake's Cliff Etzel talked to Democrats who came to hear Barack Obama's recent campaign swing through the state.

OBAMA is standing in front of the camera himself for 52 seconds explaining how
he will DISARM
the USA.

What we are talking about here IS NOT about politics and the differing
views concerning issues¦..this is about the potential literal destruction of
this country by our enemies and our inability to defend ourselves against those
attacks.

This is a very short (52 seconds) video by Barak Obama in his own words
about how he plans to destroy our defense capabilities if elected.

This is Scary and unacceptable to me !!

I think you can tell how a person will govern by the campaign they run. The better the campaign, the better the president. Sen. Clinton's campaign is riddled with poor judgment, cronism, fiscal mismanagement, and lack of planning. No one is more disappointed than I that she chose to take the path she has, but I'm very glad to have an alternative choice. Sen. Obama has run an elegant campaign, strategically brilliant, monetarily responsible, and mostly, in touch with the pulse of the nation. If he runs the country half as well, we're in for a pretty good ride.

I'm one Californian who also thinks that this campaign has been good, NOT ONLY for Democrats but the country as a whole...It has shown areas where individual americans have some real, intense soul searching to do SInce immigrating to america in 1959, the average american's awareness of the world and america's place in it has had a seachange In 2008, americans are facing responisibilities that come with being the greatest country on this planet..It is no longer acceptable to have the attitude of: We are the greatest, strongest country in the world, and we can do as we please, damn the torpedoes, full speed ahead....America has to look back across the chasm created by 8 years of G.W.Bush wrongheadedness..He is posterboy for "The Ugly American"(1950's book of that title).....America now can elect a leader who is educated, and culturally atuned, and also the embodiment of 1 American who has not only "walked the walk", but can now "talk the talk" with head held high, cleareyed about where this great nation still needs to go...Sadly, in Washington DC, experience has come to mean the ability to fog over a mirror longer than the next person.....Instinct is a much needed component of being a leader..Barack Obama is exactly that kind of leader who can lead America out of the darkness of the Bush years into the sunshine of-once again- being the leader of the free world...

Wow, one comment that is actually remotely on topic. I think this is a record.

If we want the campaigns to be over sooner, the solution is very simple. Make it federal law that all states hold their Presidential primaries on the same day. Additionally, in the last 30 days of the lead up to the election disallow direct campaign visits to any state and television advertising, instead holding a nationally broadcast (tv, radio, and digital media) final series of actual debates in Washington D.C. where the candidates have time to expand on what they propose to do, and to tell us what makes them our best choice.

In the current way of doing things, the votes of other Oregonians like myself don't usually count at all in the Presidential Primaries, and while the votes might count this time for the Democrats in Oregon, the Republicans are just plain stuck with Chipmunk Cheeks as their "choice."

I love Obama, who is charismatic, articulate and a good politician, but before I hire a person to be leader of the free world, who will take over the country which is a mess due to GWB's policies, I want to see his resume'. When I look at what Obama has done, I wonder what he has done to help people. He has spent 8 years in the Illinois state legislature, where after two years he ran for
the US Senate and lost. He was in the state legislature for 8 years during which he voted present 126 times.......not no, not yes. In 2004 he again ran for the US Senate, this time against crazy Alan Keyes and won a non competitive race. After he was in the US Senate 1 1/2 yrs he decided to run for president. He has co-sponsored two bills in that 3 years, one on limiting nuclear proliferation and the other was ethics reform........a bill that was passed with a huge majority since the country was demanding the congress clean up itself after multiple convictions of congressmen for corruption. I really can't imagine with this experience one could have the experience to run the executive branch and work with the congress to restore our economy and regain the respect of the world. Maybe you know something I don't know. If so, please list them.

Obama held assignments on the Senate Committees for Foreign Relations, Environment and Public Works and Veterans' Affairs through December 2006.[73] In January 2007, he left the Environment and Public Works committee and took additional assignments with Health, Education, Labor and Pensions and Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs.[74] He also became Chairman of the Senate's subcommittee on European Affairs.[75]

As a member of the Senate Foreign Relations Committee, Obama has made official trips to Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa. In August 2005, he traveled to Russia, Ukraine, and Azerbaijan. The trip focused on strategies to control the world's supply of conventional weapons, biological weapons, and weapons of mass destruction as a first defense against terrorist attacks.[76] Following meetings with U.S. military in Kuwait and Iraq in January 2006, he visited Jordan, Israel, and the Palestinian territories

I asked the same question a 100 times,I can't get a clear answer. Obama supporters don't care about his experience, his character, his past association with people with a dubious past. They act like they are bewiched and are in transe. This could cost us dearly. Russing into something blindfolded could bring serious consecvences.affecting everobody. I have nothing against him as a person, but all I was able to find out,das not inspire trust which is frightening.

what good has all the combined experience in Washington DC done us? We have had nothing but gridlock, and bi-partisan bickering. Obama has been a community worker, a state senator and now a Junior senator in Washington. He did not pad his resume or flip flop on his background as Clinton has. For the war, not for the war, did support NAFTA/CAFTA, did not support NAFTA/CAFTA. Did not include her employment with WALMART who denies promotions and benefits to their employees. Is that what you call experience that you want in the white house? Someone who has purposely worked against the interests of the workers of America, and then puts on a different face when she faces the voters? That is exactly why Obama has so much support - this is bigger than Obama - this is about getting rid of the old self-interested politicians and lobbyist and making our government about representation of the masses, and not the corporations who line the pockets of the Clintons.
