Ok, forgive my little moment of pride. In the context of the "softer tone" on race and gender that Obama and Hillary decided to take in their last debate, I flagged the lawsuit against the Nevada Culinary Workers Union as the issue that would take the over the passion momentum.
And it has. The court has rejected the Clinton supported lawsuit against the rights of Las Vegas maids and dishwashers to caucus in the workplace. And Bill has spoken out, in all his red-faced and finger-wagging glory, explaining with controlled fury why those maids and dishwashers don't deserve extra breaks.
Extra breaks? Uh, ok, Bill.
We are all sure that if the maids and dishwashers had endorsed Hillary instead of Obama you would be speaking out against their right to caucus in the workplace just the same.
A borderline disgusting spectacle.
passes for flipping out these days - we are indeed comotose. Clinton and Edwards have
every right to express themselves. There are
some very important issues at stake here. And
there are a whole bunch of us that are raging, eye-popping, vein bulging mad about them, and
there is not one candidate allowed to even put voice - forget volume - to that anger. To be
sure, Bill was concerned about an Obama win
with this decision, his take on the situation
was true. He is a wonk, he understands the
archane rules and regulations, and whose ox is
being gored at any given time.
Bill is very good at not letting reporters frame a story to fit their preconceptions... more politicians should do that, especially on the sunday hot air fests....
It is actually sad.
And infuriating.
Bill Clintons ease in working against a union if power is on the line brings back the bad memories of the 90's ( that's assuming this is about power and isn't exposing the couples true corporatist ideology).
Paying off his debt to Hillary may well cost Bill that warm fuzzy feeling Democrats have left for him.
