Poor Deep Throat

Really. Not only is he being spun rightward a mile a minute, as Robert Schlesinger points out, but he's looking pretty bad in general and that's making it easier for them. Definitely a seedy character, as my mother used to say. No redeeming motives apparent, then or now. The photos of him speak volumes, then and now. And what's really weird is the way he evokes what was so loathsome about Nixon, the specific quality, can you feel it? The Nixonian aesthetic ironically revived in the persona of the man who brought him down.
