With Americans still suffering from a debt hangover, we need all the help we can get in ridding ourselves of credit card debt, getting our financial houses in order, and moving on.

And while many people choose to just get rid of their credit cards altogether, than may not be the best way to save money. Many credit cards these days are offering exceptionally low APRs and balance transfer promotions that will cut interest bills substantially and allow people some room to breathe while they pay their debt down.

Oftentimes a credit union is your best choice, and there are a number of low APR credit union cards out there, but if you have no interest in joining one, here's a selection of some of NerdWallet's favorite bank credit cards in this category. So give them a look if you're trying to save money on interest.
