November of this year is important not only because it's election time, but also because it will mark the point where the war in Iraq has exceeded the length of U.S involvement in World War 2.
Luckily, help is coming from an unexpected source: Iraq veterans.
A few months ago, I had finished working on a congressional primary campaign here in California and was left wondering what to do next. Deciding to combine my love for politics and my passion for ending the war, I formed a new political action committee called Iraq Veterans for Progress.
Our aim in the coming weeks is to support candidates who want to bring our troops home and enact a better foreign policy for America. To help our candidates, we are taking a unique approach where everybody wins. From now until election time, we will be putting unemployed Iraq veterans to work on our supported campaigns. This way not only do we help our veterans and candidates, but we are also able to inject our message of "bring the troops home" into the media.
As part of our work, and to keep you apprised of our progress, our veterans will be blogging on the Huffington Post from the campaign trail. Be sure to stay tuned!
We have the people, the voice, and the will, but what we need is you. Please visit www.iraqvetsforprogress.org to learn more about us and to contribute. Your donation is critical to ensure we succeed in our mission.
