Based in Baghdad through most of 2003 and 2004, Tish Durkin wrote about the war in Iraq for publications including the New York Observer, the Atlantic Monthly, the National Journal, and Rolling Stone. Prior to this, she was a political columnist for the National Journal, writing mostly about Washington but also spending significant time in Syria, Jordan and Kuwait. As a staff writer for the New York Observer from 1997 to 2000, she covered Hillary Clinton's bid for the Senate and the mayoralty of Rudolph Giuliani. At this time she made regular television appearances as a political commentator, principally on CNN and on Hardball with Chris Matthews. Durkin now lives in Ireland and Spain with her husband and baby daughter.
