By now you've no doubt read countless stories about the 800,000 furloughed federal employees and all the horrific possibilities from a government shutdown. This is NOT one of those stories. This is about those who will actually BENEFIT from a dysfunctional government meltdown.

Consider daytime TV sponsors who will most certainly have more eyes watching their commercials.

So too, daytime TV shows. That's you Ellen, Katie and the Oz Doc.

Consider how children will profit. Parents are home and available to spend quality time with the kids and do all the car pooling drop-offs and pick-ups.

Newspapers and TV news shows will see a rise in ratings as folks want to know when it will all end.

How about those multi-plex movie theaters? They'll be selling many more tickets and popcorn.

Every mall in the land will have additional visitors who have to get away from their at-home and intrusive spouses.

And what about internet retailers? Bored stay-at-homers will find time-killing action with on-line shopping.

Book publishers may see an increase in sales as people look for the nearest book store that hasn't been replaced by a shoe store. Can you hold on a bit longer, Barnes and Noble?

And with the approximately 600,000 civilians who won't be going to work in our intelligence agencies, this certainly is a good time to be a spy.

So, amidst the disruptive turbulence of a government shutdown, there are some among us who will find profit in all this.

And for those who vociferously seek less government in our lives -- well, you've got your wish.
