It's Pride Month, which means the colors of the rainbow -- red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet -- will be on display across the country. Well, this Friday, June 14, Columbus, Ohio, is adding pink to the rainbow.
For those not from Columbus, or those who have not heard, this past weekend, three members of our community were attacked. All three attacks happened in areas of Columbus near or not far from gay bars and are believed to be hate crimes. The victims were injured, but all three survived their attacks.
To show these cowardly attackers that we stand together as one community, gay and straight, a movement has been started to wear pink on Friday. The color pink was chosen because one of the victims was wearing pink when the attack occurred.
It doesn't matter if you are straight, gay, lesbian, bisexual, or transgender; this cowardly behavior cannot be tolerated. Negativity can only be wiped out with positivity. So no matter where you are located, help Columbus add the color pink to the Pride rainbow this coming Friday and show these cowards that their negativity and hate will not deter us from fighting for equality and inclusion.
