Dennis Kucinich Sums It Up

?>

Dennis Kucinich deserves our thanks today.

I'm not a disgruntled supporter from the primaries. I agreed with most of what he had to say, but it was obvious he wasn't going to be the nominee.

No, he deserves our thanks and gratitude for standing on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives this afternoon and reading the thirty-five Articles of Impeachment of George W. Bush.

Even those who say, "We must look forward, we know how bad the Bush administration has been, but why waste our time on this," must stop and listen.

The breadth and length of Kucinich's articles are astonishing. They sum up Bush's evil reign succinctly and to hear them recited been said on the floor of Congress makes me wonder how American could have possibly put up with this despotic murderer and thief for so long.

He should be impeached and removed. He won't be. I can understand why the current Democratic leadership, in its myopic lack of vision takes what they think is the safe political stance. I also understand that they don't want to distract the electorate during an election.

But 75% of the American public thinks he's a rotten president and a large percentage of that public think he's the worst president in American history.

I don't think we should shut up about that.

Bush should not be able to just leave office and slink on back to Texas or Kuwait or wherever he's going to end up and live off the millions made from the blood of American soldiers.

Is there anybody here who wouldn't send him to jail?

I know our nightmare is about to be over, but I do not forgive.

Will update links as they become available.

Most disturbing is the notion advanced in several posts that the reason Pelosi and some others refuse to act on impeachment is that they themselves are complicit, for example by having received secret briefings on the use of waterboarding torture and done nothing about it.

All the more reason to remove Pelosi from her seat in Congress and replace her with Cindy Sheehan!

www.cindyforcongress.org

Remember, Bush and Cheney can still be impeached and convicted even after they leave office, and it is important that their crimes against the Constitution not be left standing as precedents.

Replacing Pelosi with Sheehan in Congress won't make Sheehan the Speaker, but whoever becomes Speaker will be made very much aware of the consequences of opposing impeachment.

Finally something on this story. I posted about this on several other articles but they were not posted. I guess Huffy got the go ahead from the big bosses. Dennis and Ron in the White House could actually save the country. YEs thank you very much for doing this. It's a shame the Bush and his pals of the NWO have buried this story.

I wish there were more members of Congress who were as courageous as Dennis Kucinich. He was often ridiculed when he was running for President - but he's the guy who is willing to defend the Constitution against foreign and domestic enemies (i.e., Bush and Cheney).

All that is required for evil to prevail is for good men to do nothing - Thank You Dennis for not doing nothing your impeachment resolution will be on record for all time!

The Honorable Dennis Kucinich is one of the small number of heroes we still have left among our elected officials. Unfortunately people in this country have a huge lack of political awareness. Nothing will change until majority of citizens realize that they are the main source cause and perhaps feel guilty enough to do something about it or prevent it from happening again. The politicians including presidents are elected via public votes. Without public support they would never get to such positions of authorities. Public mostly in forms of taxes also finances their actions as well. Mr. Kucinich, you will be known as a true legend in our country’s history.

Thank you Congressman Kucinich for honoring your oath to the constitution and the American people. It is a travesty that the Democratic leadership is more concerned about politics than justice. The fact of the matter is, George W. Bush has violated his oaths. Congressman Kucinch has done a first rate job in citing these violations. These senators and congressional leaders are BOUND by the SAME oaths as the president and for them to turn a blind eye is a violation of their oaths as well. In this they are not one bit better than George W. Bush and Dick (screw the people) Cheney.
Perhaps, should I find myself brought before the judge on some trifle, I'll ask for the same "brand" of justice that Bush has gotten. "Let's leave the past to the past and just move on, your honor."

Dennis is the MAN!!! I'm happy to say that as much as I like Obama, I voted for Kucinich in the Ill primary: one, because I knew Obama was going to win anyway; and two, because Kucinich walks it like he talks it and deserves support for always standing up for what's right.

A waste of time!!!!....I don't think so. Dennis Kucinich was my favorite candidate and the most brave and honest of all. Hey,,,,good things come in small packages sometimes. We can't let this administration get away with murder. I'm surprised he is not getting more support from congress. Go to his website and you'll find a place where you send a letter of support to congress to help Dennis with his brave move.

For me, it is really not about partisan politics and I believe Congress--no matter who may be in the majority has not just the right, but the Obligation to impeach. This is not about getting rid of someone who will already be gone in a year. This is about the penalty for crimes. It is certainly appalling to see impeachment used as a partisan smear tactic, but I think it may be even more appalling to see impeachment Not pursued when crimes have been committed.
"Yes, he committed multiple acts of rape and murder, but considering the political climate and the fact he will soon lose his job, we prefer to not press charges in these matters."
How does That fly?

Regarding these two defeatist statements:

"it was obvious he wasn't going to be the nominee"

"He should be impeached and removed. He won't be."

All I can say is, if you want it bad enough, it will happen. You clearly didn't want it bad enough to make these goals viable, or you would have figured out how to overcome the seemingly insurmountable obstacles.

If we've learned anything from observing Obama's path to the nomination (regardless of what you think of him in particular), is that you and I can indeed make things happen that seem impossible. We just have to stop saying it won't happen, and start saying why it must happen. And we have to do the work to make it happen.

It ain't easy, I know. If it were easy, we'd be out of Iraq already--but at no point am I willing to concede that it will not end. It must. It will.

It's not just that we are angry at what this president has done to our country and want to see him punished, (although, are we a nation of laws or not?), it is that if we don't do something to stop him, he will bomb Iran without regard for what we want or think. We also need to stop Congress from continuing to soil themselves by giving in to this extortionist and his thug loser nerds.

Regarding consequnces, you haven’t seen the whole picture. Just imagine the future financail, psychological and moral burden to our veterans and their families.
Regarding Iran, since Iran has been isolated from American Businesses, the big gainers have been mainly China, India and Russia. At the time American businesses were prohibited to do business in Iran, Chinese and Russian businesses have been signing multi-billion Dollars contracts. If US-Iran relations is ever improved, Iran would make a strong and effective US ally in the Middle East and US may not have to rely on Israel so much. Consequntly there would be no longer any reason for billions of Dollars of annually financial and military US aides to Israel. For that exact reason, every time there is a chance that there could be some improvement in the US-Iran relation, the process is sabotaged directly by Israel or indirectly via Israel"s special interest groups. We have to learn to elect politicians who focus at America’s Interest not others.

Dennis Kucinich has the courage to do and say what has to be done. He's not about to play it safe, like most of his congressional colleagues, just to keep logging pension credits. General Petraeus has nothing on Dennis regarding courage. One a yes man who learned you get ahead in the military by being a careful play it safe yes man and the other (Dennis) who speaks truth to power with out any expectation of an institutional reward or media acclaim. Our dummying down public can't, or won't bother, to comprehend the difference.

Although I greatly appreciate all the time it took for Kucinich to research and gather the MANY crimes of the Bush Administration. I do not think that an impeachment is the proper/best form of punishment. Before anyone yells at me, let me just say one word: PARDON. There must be another way to make GWB/DC AND CABINET (past and present) to pay the FULL penalty, without being able to be pardoned for crimes committed. What good would it do to be impeached and get away scott-free. We already know that this administration has no shame, so that will not be sufficient punishment.

I'm glad he read it into the record. They'd have to have a 2/3 majority in both houses to actually pass it though. Maybe that's one reason Pelosi doesn't want to try.

Article 1, Section 2, of the Constitution specifies that "the House of Representatives...shall have the sole power of impeachment." This means that it has the power to bring charges against an official.
The Senate is where the trial takes place. Article 1, Section 3, specifies, "The Senate shall have the sole power to try all impeachments. When sitting for that purpose, they shall be on oath or affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no person shall be convicted without the concurrence of two thirds of the members present."

Most congressional memebers do not want to get involved because they share the same responsibility. How many of them do you think do any reading or digging before they vote?

Add Jerry Nadler to enabler list

Sad to say, living here in so called progressive Manhattan, that my member of COngress, Jerry Nadler, who chairs the House Sub-Committee on CIVIL AND CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS, refuses to allow the impeachment debate to even come to the floor. Talk about enabling--and like 90% of his constituents want impeachment. So who exactly do these Dem enablers represents? I agree with udnerdog: to Nadler and his ilk: we will remember you selling out your constituents on Election Days to come!

i read the european papers and what he did made small headlines, but frontpage headlines, in each paper i saw. i'm tremendously grateful that someone has stood up for america and our true american values. maybe it won't go anywhere, but it matters, it matters. mr. smith went to washington and i'm proud!
