Dennis Kucinich Sums It Up

Dennis Kucinich deserves our thanks today.

I'm not a disgruntled supporter from the primaries. I agreed with most of what he had to say, but it was obvious he wasn't going to be the nominee.

No, he deserves our thanks and gratitude for standing on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives this afternoon and reading the thirty-five Articles of Impeachment of George W. Bush.

Even those who say, "We must look forward, we know how bad the Bush administration has been, but why waste our time on this," must stop and listen.

The breadth and length of Kucinich's articles are astonishing. They sum up Bush's evil reign succinctly and to hear them recited been said on the floor of Congress makes me wonder how American could have possibly put up with this despotic murderer and thief for so long.

He should be impeached and removed. He won't be. I can understand why the current Democratic leadership, in its myopic lack of vision takes what they think is the safe political stance. I also understand that they don't want to distract the electorate during an election.

But 75% of the American public thinks he's a rotten president and a large percentage of that public think he's the worst president in American history.

I don't think we should shut up about that.

Bush should not be able to just leave office and slink on back to Texas or Kuwait or wherever he's going to end up and live off the millions made from the blood of American soldiers.

Is there anybody here who wouldn't send him to jail?

I know our nightmare is about to be over, but I do not forgive.

Will update links as they become available.

The reason they don't impeach him is because many of the Democratic leadership were fully informed of what he was doing and they went along with it. That's right. They knew that the intelligence didn't support Bush's claims about Iraq. They were briefed about waterboarding. They went along. Pelosi was briefed. You see, they were accomplices, that's why they don't want this trial.
They need to go.

If you folks drooling over impeachment stood back from Huffpo for a moment and observed the REAL world, you'd understand immediately why Kucinich's dog and pony show isn't attracting media attention. The man was merely tooting his own little horn, seeking attention, as small men are prone to do.

Real Americans don't want the embarassment of impeachment proceedings while actively engaged in a war.

REAL Americans are willing to put up with impeachment proceedings, even in a time of war, when the evidence shows that the president committed criminal acts to get us into that war. Too bad we don't have enough real Americans.

You're right- we only use impeachment against successful, popular Presidents that lie about getting a blow-job in the White House. We don't want to embarrass ourselves by using impeachment proceedings to condemn the numerous "high crimes & misdemeanors" of the war-profiteering criminals that have made a mockery of our country's system of checks & balances, shredded our constitution, and destroyed our country's standing in the world. Mr. Kucinich is a hero for pointing out that not only is our emporer naked - he's armed to the teeth and inflicting critical wounds.

Breakwind is an appropriate screen name. REAL AMERICANS demand our Constitutional Right to investigate wrong doing in the White House through the process of Impeachment. Using the War as an excuse is like an arsonist using a burning house as an excuse not to investigate his involvement in starting the fire. Kucinich is the REAL American.

Thank you, Wired! Real Americans (like me! I'll brag) have volunteered for the firing squad for cheney and bush and were told we would be #'s 79,648th in line to do so. The criminality of this administration is going to bleed this country for decades. Kucinich has the intelligence AND the integrity to speak up. I hope more does come about because of this. It will if enough of us insist that it be heard.

the democrats seem to think bringing up these issues may effect the democratic position of getting into the White House. I disagree. I know many republicans that feel since no charges have been brought must mean Bush was completely in the right. Or he followed the law.

If charges where brought, I think even the already extremely low approval rating would drop further. The whole administration would have to start answering questions which would destroy the republican party.

I know a republican that feels Bill Clinton is the scab of the earth because he cheated on his wife. She also feels ALL democrats follow that same way of thinking.

Wether Impeachment proceedings would fail is not the point. Doesn't anybody in Congress care about doing the right thing? Oh yeah they're politicians. Generally I consider myself a pragmatist but there comes a time when you have to do what's right or lose your integrity. The fact that Congress is doing nothing about this speaks volumes about the kind of people in our society who become politicians. Or maybe just what happens to them as a result of the process.

Someone should do a TV spot with this little simple plan.
You take these 35 articles of impeachment
Slam them down on the table
And say: "WELL AMERICA, WADAYA GONNA DO ABOUT IT? HUH?"

Congressmen Kucinich is an American hero for trying to defend the Constitution and holding the Criminal in the WhiteHouse accountable. Everyone should call or email his office and tell him how much his actions are appreciated, even if the Senate continues to do nothing.

I was of the opinion that it wouldn't happen (impeachment) and even if it had, it wouldn't succeed, but the more I read and the more I hear from people like Tom D'Antoni, the more I think we should go for it, damn the torpedoes. At the very least, it will go some ways towards redeeming the lack of action against one of the greatest snow jobs in history. I also think that Mr. Bush and Mr. Cheney should have it on their permanent historical records that they were impeached, and if we're fortunate, convicted of their crimes and forcibly removed from office. If this actually happened, it would go a long, LONG, way towards healing this country and its standing in the world--and the Bush presidency would, without doubt, be the absolute worst in U.S. history. It would be a fitting end to it.

I know that I will likely draw much criticism here, but I have yet to hear of anything but speculation in that regard. I can almost heart the roaring chorus of "BUSH LIED" rising as I write this, but I think the administration has sufficiently insulated the President such that the best argument that can be made against him is failure of leadership and neglect of duties, both of which are shameful but neither of which are impeachable. If there are high crimes and misdemeanors, do you really think that Bush and Cheney haven't figured out the Constitutional two-step to make sure that they each leave office with a full pardon?

Every member of Congress who failed to do their own due diligence and voted for war is complicit in this situation. Do we impeach them as well? The best thing we can do is to get our troops home. Without solid evidence, this prolonged impeachment effort is nothing more than a tit-for-tat to tarnish Bush's and Cheney's records for posterity. And at taxpayer's expense. Enough.

There are a significant number of people who feel that Bush has been an illegitimate President; "selected, not elected" in 2000, and Commander-in-Theif in 2004. Get over yourselves. We are on the verge of an opportunity to Clean up our government from the top down. We will blow it if we focus on a revenge impeachment that will produce nothing but more partisan ill will.

There is also the Hague for war crimes. Plenty of heat on this one. Bush doesn't have family connects that could "save" him from that sort of prosecution.

So your defense is that the crime was so well executed, and the likelihood of 'self pardoning' is so high, that we should just let this batch of criminals make off with all the money they've borrowed from the communists (in our names) and say, "oh well, maybe the next round of corruptible folks will learn a lesson from this".

You say, "We are on the verge of an opportunity to Clean up our government from the top down.", and then you recommend we don't start at the top, or with *this* government.

It's like saying, "We have an opportunity to take out the trash, but let's not take the smelly trash, or the actual trash, if we ignore that trash long enough it will sneak away leaving a fresh pine scent.

The Democrats cannot impeach a President for crimes that the Democrats are also guilty of. No American President exists in a vacuum. Congress supported the President Bush's war crimes.

the problem with this article is that you can't really call someone a 'despotic murderer and thief' when there isn't even enough evidence of such to warrant impeachment, much less criminal charges.

Bush and Cheney have so disgraced our country, lowered the bar of what should be expected of a president and vice president(neither job either gained by the majority, the electoral vote)so low that they should not be allowed to continue in office.

In the eight months left, there is a possiblility of the dynamic duo initiating another war with Iran to satisfy their military industrial committments, and their loyalty to the oil companies.

As long as Bush and Cheney have power, they pose a great danger to our country and the world.

In the thirty-five crimes, Kucinich listed against Bush/Cheney, these are worse, more serious than crimes of any past president/vp.

It is cowardly and questionable why congress does not pursue this(too worried about how it might effect their chances in the November election, the status of both parties?) Unforgiveable.

The cover-up of the story is almost as big a story as the impeachment itself.

Sure, it was destined to die in committee. That's another story. Who's killing it? Not only republications, but Democrats?

This should have been the headline in every paper across American:

BUSH IMPEACHED FOR WAR CRIMES

a day later:

DEMOCRATS HELP REPUBLICATIONS KILL IMPEACHMENT

Everybody's in on the gravy train here. Bill bucks are spilling out of the pockets of both parties.

How much play do you think this incredible story will get in the mainstream media or even on the Huffington Post for that matter?

When Mr. Kucinich, then a presidential candidate for that matter, introduced the articles of impeachment against Dick Cheney, how many of our public had an idea he was doing this? What he's doing now against "president" Bush should be the major news story for the next few months. This is huge news and I'd bet 99% of the public has no idea that this is even going on. Distraction is a primary tool of the magician and media alike. Hopefully what I'm saying makes you start asking some serious questions about what's really going on here.

So why, when and how did the impeachment of a president stop becoming newsworthy?

I lived near San Francisco when Pelosi was first elected. At the time, she was ridiculed as a "party girl" whose sole qualification for the job was having put together some really great fundraising events for local Democrats. So she's exceeded my low expectations, as I would imagine she has with a lot of her constituents. She *has* been a disappointment as Speaker, but are you seriously suggesting that San Franciscans vote for a *Republican*? Wash your mouth out with soap!

Harry Reid, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Nancy Pelosi among other Democrats are personally responsible for every death and maiming of every young American and every Iraqi, against the interests of the United States, since the Dems took over both Houses of Congress in January, 2007.

They are despicable for failing to do what Dennis is doing now -- moving impeachment through the House of Representatives and removal through the Senate, as Bush's and Cheney's high crimes and misdemeanors have already been proven.

The rest of the 67 votes for removal would have come from those incumbent Republican Senators running for the 22 Republican seats up for re-election this year. Once the case for impeachment/removal was competently presented to the Senate and the American people, which would have been required as part of moving the Articles of Impeachment, those incumbent Republican Senators running for re-election this year would have had the choice of voting to remove Bush/Cheney or being removed by the vote of their constituents in November.

Dennis Kucinich and a few other Representatives supporting impeachment/removal are the only decent, pro-Ameican, moral Representatives in both Houses of Congress.

Reid, Clinton, Obama, Pelosi, and many of the politicians in Washington are also pragmatists. If they thought they could do it with more good than harm being done to their standings in the Beltway and America at large, they would have done it. The fact that Kucinich is the one pushing this through makes it even more clear: nobody wants to touch the issue for fear of being tainted by it. Here's hoping that Kucinich can build support and make the difference.

Respectfully, I don't believe they're as much pragmatists as they are collaborators. They support the Iraq incursion but want to get anti-war votes so they have double-talking points. They knowingly put my military family members in harm's way against the interests of the United States for personal political gain and by doing so sanctioned high crimes and misdemeanors including war crimes, murder and torture.

Nope. I don't forgive this man GWBUSH. Never. Neither forgive nor forget. I'm sorry. This horrible creature drives many of us last straw, beyond charity. He is OUR first absolutely wicked tyrant. Perhaps our first really evil tyrant as President. Able to be that by his crony frauds. Vote suppresion and or plain rigged, finally stolen. Dismantling the levers of checks and balances. Signing Statements allowing him to in the end to do what he wants, screw Congress. Putting in place deceiptful people to help him ruin us. Opening Pandora Box of deregulated free enterprize, laissez-faire wild west lawless, snarling, merciless acolyte greedhead thugs. Am I being too kind? Ignore the Constituion or override it. GWBUSH has committed in our name murder. He lied us into war, thus TREASON. Sounds too blatant doesn't it? Too much. To exaggerate. Over the top, partisan to the ridiculous. But he gives no consideration for 'his' peoples blood, none, yet he is leader, heh. Kills us for his agendas, He is a criminal of the highest order.
