Dennis Kucinich Sums It Up

Dennis Kucinich deserves our thanks today.

I'm not a disgruntled supporter from the primaries. I agreed with most of what he had to say, but it was obvious he wasn't going to be the nominee.

No, he deserves our thanks and gratitude for standing on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives this afternoon and reading the thirty-five Articles of Impeachment of George W. Bush.

Even those who say, "We must look forward, we know how bad the Bush administration has been, but why waste our time on this," must stop and listen.

The breadth and length of Kucinich's articles are astonishing. They sum up Bush's evil reign succinctly and to hear them recited been said on the floor of Congress makes me wonder how American could have possibly put up with this despotic murderer and thief for so long.

He should be impeached and removed. He won't be. I can understand why the current Democratic leadership, in its myopic lack of vision takes what they think is the safe political stance. I also understand that they don't want to distract the electorate during an election.

But 75% of the American public thinks he's a rotten president and a large percentage of that public think he's the worst president in American history.

I don't think we should shut up about that.

Bush should not be able to just leave office and slink on back to Texas or Kuwait or wherever he's going to end up and live off the millions made from the blood of American soldiers.

Is there anybody here who wouldn't send him to jail?

I know our nightmare is about to be over, but I do not forgive.

Will update links as they become available.

Kudos to Kucinich, and also to D'Antoni for this blog. Justice does need to be served so that we can restore our faith in our own democratic principles that we tout to the rest of the world. If not impeachment, at least an indictment.

THE HONOR OF THIS COUNTRY IS AT STAKE

WHEN A COUNTRY ALLOWS THEIR LEADERS TO DISHONOR THE WORLD THE WAY OURS HAS
THEN IT IS THE CITIZENS OF THAT COUNTRY RESPONCABILITY TO REDEEM THEIR OWN COUNTRY BY HOLDING THOSE LEADERS ACCOUNTABLE.

UNTILL THE PEOPLE DO THAT,

THEY SHARE SOME OF THE FAULT OF THEIR LEADERS ACTIONS

IF WE DON'T?; THE NEXT TIME WE GET BOMBED BY SOMEONE, DON'T YOU
DARE SAY, WE DIDN'T BRING IT ON OURSELVES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If everyone who agreed with Dennis would have supported him, it might not have been so "obvious" that he wasn't going to be the nominee.

Agree or disagree with the Senator, emory put this situation in context. WE the people are more responsible for allowing George or any President to comment these crimes, for soooo long without any outrage. Blogging is a means of communicating, however for matters of this sort. Action should have been taken back in 2003 when it was clear no wmd. I must admit I've received several email from congress members request funds to impeach Bush since 2003. Actions to this extend must start from the bottom....
Please stop faulting your senators in Congress and the House if you have not organized in you communities with petitions to have such actions earlier

I am truly appalled at Americans right now. There couldn't be a worse criminal in our midst than Bush and Cheney, but I also understand this is a campaign year.

Hopefully, once we have a president, the resolution for impeachment will turn into supoenas to indict both bush/cheney for crimes against the people of the United States.

An impeachment vote would not hurt the democrats in the election. Debate could be shortened to a day or two. The vote would force republicans to choose between the most unpopular president in American history or impeachment. Under these conditions, the impeachment would either pass or many republicans would have to run as Bush's 3rd term. it's a win win situation.

It would also damage Bush's authority to start the next war in Iran before he leaves office.

The only one with real balls , Ethics and not nearly as morally corrupt as the rest, and everyone made fun of him for reporting a UFO sighting. Which many people have themselves reported, including Reagan. But nevertheless, Dennis could have been just what we needed to start us on the long, hard crawl out of the pits of Hell we are sinking into, but not anymore. Thank you Dennis, we know your not perfect, but your a damn sight better than the rest of the whining greedy selfish whores in DC.

as a fellow ohioian i am proud of dennis and his efforts in congress but this is just a distraction. i agree with him on keeping bush's misdeeds in the spotlight just let bush leave office in shame and disgrace.

Do you also feel we should have let Hitler "leave office in shame and disgrace."

I think "misdeeds" is little bit understated in light of the criminal behavior. Is "white collar" crime now an acceptable social norm?

nothing bush did compares to hitler. let them leave office after the pardons and move to saudi arabia where they belong and we will be rid of them.

Hooray for Kucinich! (sincerely)
Reactions from Obama, Reid, Pelosi?
Er, didn't Cynthia McKinney file articles of impeachment in 2006? What happened then?

No reaction from them because they know it's a stupid waste of time.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 11:35 PM on 06/11/2008

Would you think it a "stupid waste of time" to prosecute someone who was responsible for murdering your mother or raping your sister?
GW Bush has raped the constitution that he has sworn to protect.
He is responsible for all the carnage that has occurred because of his unnecessary war of choice based on lies in Iraq. This includes tens of thousands of Americans either killed or seriously injured, many thousands more permanently traumatized and millions of Iraqis and others killed, injured or turned into refugees.
No need to list Bush's other crimes here but they are included in Kucinich's Articles of Impeachment.
This is certainly NOT a wast of time but a necessary and patriotic act even if not successfully prosecuted.

Tom:

I agree, one of the few Democrats with principles and a sense of justice.

The remained of them, or sadly, the vast majority of DemocRATS don't have the courage to impeach the criminals Bush and Cheney!!

I strongly urge all readers here to contact their senators and representatives and let them know you support Senator Kucinich and that you expect them to as well.

My own letter to Senator Dick Durbin (The other senator of my state)

****
Senator Durbin, I am sure you are aware that recently, Senator Dennis Kucinich brought up 35 articles of impeachment against the Bush administration. I applaud his bravery in making such a stand and deplore the efforts of Senator Nancy Pelosi to try and quietly hush up this initiative. I urge you to support Senator Kucinich in his attempt to hold the Bush administration accountable for the lies they have repeatedly delivered unto our nation. The democratic party has for too long now been laughed at by Bush and his cronies as a toothless, do nothing party. I urge you to encourage your fellow Democrats in office to put a decisive end to that image and hold Bush and his criminal administartion accountable.

History holds the enablers in worse light then those they enable. Do not become another Neville Chamberlain.

The fact that Dennis Kucinich did this is wonderful. It reminds me of "Mr. Smith Goes to Washington".

The fact that it had to be done makes me miserable... I cannot imagine that America has come to this... giving that kind of power to a man who was totally unworthy. It just saddens me so much for our country.

I don't know about other folks, but nothing makes me more angry than to be lied to. What kind of fools did the people on the B*u*s*h administration think we were?

And, it embarasses me. I love this nation. The future generations of Americans deserve a lot better reputation in the world that these clowns have gotten for us.

The present administration has taken the old saying, "Don't piss on my leg and tell me it is raining." to a whole new level.

Thank you Mr. Kucinich, You have no idea how many people cheered your words, how many people agree with everything you said, and how many wish that the people who WE voted into office had the courage you showed today to throw the person who bears the up most responsibility for dragging this country into an unjust war that has cost thousands of lives........out of office, and into a jail cell.

I dare say you spoke for thousands, if not millions.

I agree. If we let Bush and Cheney get away with this 8 year reign of terror, we are telling all future administrations that we are for torture and war. If we send that message, we cease to be America as was intended and always was until these old madmen took over. IMPEACH!

History will show the courage of this great man who makes up in staure what he lacks in height.
Thanks to Dennis, future scholars will see that there was SOMEONE who stood up for what is right.
Shame on those who know better and stay hidden!
PS: I saw Dennis today in the Cannon Building on Capitol Hill and told him I was proud of him and we shook hands. Lucky Me!

History will have as much disgust for Congress as for Bush. The Founders knew there would be dictator wannabees. Bush wouldn't have surprised them. They gave us the tools, however, to rid ourselves of these people. That we didn't do it deserves as much, if not more, loathing as Bush himself.

Our generation has set precedents that guarantee that the next Bush will come sooner rather than later, and be that much harder to get rid of.
