Dennis Kucinich deserves our thanks today.
I'm not a disgruntled supporter from the primaries. I agreed with most of what he had to say, but it was obvious he wasn't going to be the nominee.
No, he deserves our thanks and gratitude for standing on the floor of the U.S. House of Representatives this afternoon and reading the thirty-five Articles of Impeachment of George W. Bush.
Even those who say, "We must look forward, we know how bad the Bush administration has been, but why waste our time on this," must stop and listen.
The breadth and length of Kucinich's articles are astonishing. They sum up Bush's evil reign succinctly and to hear them recited been said on the floor of Congress makes me wonder how American could have possibly put up with this despotic murderer and thief for so long.
He should be impeached and removed. He won't be. I can understand why the current Democratic leadership, in its myopic lack of vision takes what they think is the safe political stance. I also understand that they don't want to distract the electorate during an election.
But 75% of the American public thinks he's a rotten president and a large percentage of that public think he's the worst president in American history.
I don't think we should shut up about that.
Bush should not be able to just leave office and slink on back to Texas or Kuwait or wherever he's going to end up and live off the millions made from the blood of American soldiers.
Is there anybody here who wouldn't send him to jail?
I know our nightmare is about to be over, but I do not forgive.
Will update links as they become available.

I'll never understand this stuff. Bill Clinton plays grab-ass with an intern and he is before the inquisition quicker than you can say Monica who? Bush single handedly kills the economy and a few thousand american troops and he is about to walk off into the sunset a rich(er) man for it. The big K seems to be the only man or woman on the floor with a conscience.
...and many thousands more Iraqis dead and millions displaced. They are the first victims, other than truth. Kucinich mentioned the blowback that is ahead for the United States, but I wish we could take a human moment and grieve the lives lost, the families broken, that there is no way ever of restoring. Shame on us. And shame on any member of the house who does not support this impeachment. What a total disgusting failure to honor your oath and do your job.
Go Dennis, you're doing good work..
I really must oppose this impeachment. I don't think that is any way to treat our President
He needs to be prosecuted as the criminal he is, and sent to do some hard time!
While in office, the President, criminal charges cannot be brought against him in the traditional sense.
Once a president is impeached, he is tried in Senate for removal of office. Once he is removed from office, criminal charges can be brought in federal court and he can be put in jail. This is what would have happened to Nixon if he hadn't been pardoned by Ford.
One can only hope someone with balls on the judiciary committee will move on this and we can hold the president and vice-president responsible for their actions.
Furthermore, had the Senate rendered a verdict against Nixon, Ford would not have been able to pardon him.
This is a vitally-important law enforcement duty... intended to clearly put "any civil officer" under the Law. For nearly eight years we have lived with the scourge of a Congress that, quite unconstitutionally, chose to aid-and-abet these war crimes instead of prosecuting them.
I flatly believe that the President has committed treason, and that Nancy Pelosi likewise has committed treason. These are very serious charges and I make them quite soberly. "I hold these truths to be self-evident."
Right now, there are more than 1 million people who are dead or dismembered because of these crimes. The American economy is falling into ruin because of these crimes, even as the perpetrators scoop up more than $1 billion a DAY. There are "300 million plaintiffs."
AMEN... thanks for the clarity and I do HOPE that criminal actions are taken and justice is served to the bastard and his cronies!
All day no MSM re these outrageous acts!!
K.Oberman is now on MSN speaking with J.Turley constitutional law professor!
Why was this not news worthy this day!!?
I'm watching C span.....they're reading it right now & are suppose to vote on it tonite.
The Corporate Media is in on the conspiracy to destroy the experiment that was America.
"But 75% of the American public thinks he's a rotten president and a large percentage of that public think he's the worst president in American history."
You really put that much stock into what the American people think? Then you should have been a supporter of Bush when he beat Gore (yes, as a matter of fact he did beat him) and Kerry. That seemed to be what they thought then and this is what they think now.
Trust me, when President Obama starts having tea with Hugo Chavez, he'll have the same sentiments thrown his way.
Every minute this sociopath is in office, someone is dying somewhere. He needs to go, NOW. THIS VERY MINUTE.!
Oops, my Bravo was for Star2000Dancer! ;0)
We could only hope an American president would see the light & embrace President Chavez, the most popular political leader in this hemisphere, but Obama is just as much a tool of the ruling class as any other US senator.
Bravo!
For all the genuflection going on in the press lately, they sure are dropping the ball on this one.
Home watching the nightly news. and not a peep about it.
Nothing in the morning newspaper either. Disgusting.
At least a few in congress have the balls to try and do something about the executive branch. The rest should be tossed out and replaced by people who may live up to their duty.
I'd like to see the candidates questioned about their ideas and decisions regarding this.
Are either willing to go after them?
Kucinich has been involved with this even during the campaign, I'd like to have all of them on the record, unfortunatly we are only down to 2.
Whoever speaks up and say YES gets my vote.
(except for McCain.)
;-)
Dennis Kucinich. TNT comes in small packages.
The Repukes impeached Clinton over lying about a BJ. Now the Dems don't want to "distract the electorate" by holding a wildly unpopular president and war criminal accountable? Is this how our system is supposed to work??
Exactly! Just think of the message this sends our children: Lie, steal and cheat all you want...as long as it's about oil, money and power and not about dirty, horrible, icky SEX! Go Kucinich! Go Wexler! Do the right thing and impeach! Or better yet, try the Bush Cabal for war crimes. It's sickening.
It is NOT a waste of time to impeach and convict Bush, even though he will shortly leave office.
If he is not convicted our democracy will be undermined by his many illegal acts subverting the Constitution, because those acts will be left to stand as precedents ending the separation of powers.
Those precedents MUST be overturned.
I support Representative Kucunich's efforts to impeach President George W. Bush. I have written my Senators and Representative Lamborn more than once about this and now it appears we have someone in the Congress who has the guts to begin the process.
Please, please support Dennis Kusunich (202)225-5871 and urge Speaker Pelosi to at least begin proceedings (202)-225-0100. This administration should be held accountable and if we do not do this, what does it say about our democracy?
They are not above the law.
Go Dennis, I've been with you the whole time. We need you as speaker of the house!
Inconcievable!
Yahoo News, and two articles on this topic on HuffPost alone ....yet.....not a twitter on MSNBC or CNN. I just went to CNN's website, and the most recent mention of Kucinich is when he withdrew from the race.
Yet, I'm watching - in mind numbing detail - how they're planning to stop a dam in WI from bursting. No offense to those in the mid-west suffering at the moment.
But all cable news should just give up and let us watch the Weather Channel, if they're going to concentrate solely on the weather.
I wish to add my voice to the chorus. Aye to Tom D'Antoni. 35-AYES to Dennis Kucinich.
George Bush might ask: "What does a guy gotta do to get impeached around here?"
Under each of the 35 articles listed by Dennis Kucinich, there are multiple impeachable offenses. What else would he have to do? Of course get a blow job and and lie about it would be at the top of list. Election fraud, ingnoring supbpoenas, diverting funds meant to go to the military and to dying Katrina victims, jailing political enemies, firing judges who refuse to prosecute political enemies... None of these, nor the sum of these is enough to impeach according to the Democratic leadership.
What the f*&^ else do you need, Pelosi??? This regime has undermined the Constitution and our government in nearly every way imaginable, but my extreme anger is placed, at this moment, on my OWN PARTY!!! The Democrats are complicit in this Debacle. At this point you can add the name Pelosi to the list that starts out Bush, Cheney, Rove, Rumsfeld, Rice...
I've always believed that Bush, Cheney et al will be tried for war crimes eventually. Here's what I don't get.... if you thought one of the guys in your crowd was beating up someone for destroying something precious to them, only you knew, everyone knew he was beating up the wrong guy... if he said to you, "Hey, McCain, I gotta quit, take over for me here." Would you take over with a proud determination to WIN this fight that really isn't a fight at all, it's just a bully beating up someone innocent? No. No you wouldn't. You'd say, wrong guy man, I don't attack innocent people. I don't go park on their property and then call them the bad guys cause they do everything in the world to let me know that I'm on their property uninvited and they want me to leave.
But McCain, what a guy! He knows. He knows beyond any shadow of doubt that we have no right to be there. And he's pretty close to thrilled about it.
Amen, Mr D'Antoni!
It will be America's great shame and dishonour if we fail to aqcknowledge and address the evil this man and his cronmies have done, in our country's name. We will NOT begin to regain what we have lost unless/until we repudiate the evils that have been done by our government these past 8 years.
If we fail to hold them accountable, all of our lofty words about Democracy and Freedom are hypocritical farce.
