It's Outrageous That Rove Is Walking Free

Let's say I received a subpoena from the Justice Department today telling me I had to testify about matters it considered vital to national security.

Let's say I told them, "I could give a rat's ass about your subpoena, blow me."

What do you think would happen?

I would be in Guantanamo dining on that "cockmeat sandwich" that Harold and Kumar avoided.

So why is Karl Rove walking around free today? Because the Democrats talk a good game but when it comes to taking action, they fail time and time again.

It's simple. Congress tells you that you have to testify? You testify. It's the law. Period.

It doesn't take an epiphany to know that the Bush administration could care less about the law, the Constitution, morality, or life itself.

Where's the action by Congress to enforce its own subpoena? Where is justice? Where is the Democratic leadership? Send some cops, cuff Rove, march him to the hearing and if he refuses to talk, lock him up till he does.

Matter of fact, send him to Guantanamo. He'll confess to everything from car theft to murdering Jon Benet Ramsey. He looks soft, anyway.

What is most astounding is how incredibly far the Democrats in Congress are behind the curve of where the public is at on this and so many other issues.

Joe Lieberman must go? Steny Hoyer is the Congressman who must go first.

It certainly is outrageous, but it's not surprising if you simply think about how our government is structured. Congress has no authority to enforce laws. The can only make laws. It's the executive branch that can decide whether or not to enforce a subpoena, and we all know what we can expect from the particular executive branch that we have right now.

Outrage is a good work for where we are right now, but I think Congress gets unfairly blamed for its inability to effect change. That's just the way the three branches of our government are set up - usually for better, but sometimes for worse.

D'Antoni says regarding their pusuit of Karl Rove, "Democrats talk a good game but when it comes to taking action, they fail time and time again."

Can anyone name anything this Democratic Congress has done to stand up to George Bush, challenge him on the war, challenge his runnning amok on the economy, or defended the Constitution which he is trashing EVERY DAY?

Democrats in Congress are cowards. Giving them a larger majority will change nothing. We need to send all incumbents home for good, Democrats and Republicans.

DON'T BLAME ROVE, BLAME THE THE COWARDS DEMOCRATS.

I am so proud of Rove for laughing in the faces of Conyers and Waxman. These people are clowns. Does anyone question why they have an 8% approval rating in Congress?

Why should Rove be in jail? Even if he did offer up his opinion - which I believe is not true at all - on the issue, he has no authority to do anything.

He just drives the left nuts because he is so brilliant and defeats them in political strategy at every turn

So, you're proud of a lawbreaking, lying coward? You're proud of someone who helped orchestrate undermining the Constitution at every turn? You're proud of someone who took the unity this nation had after 9/11, spit on it, and did Bin Laden's dirty work for him by dividing the American people? You're proud of someone who helped orchestrate the politicization of the DoJ and most every other part of government they could get their uber-partisan, neo-fascist little hands on?

Rove, Cheney and Bush have done more to set American back in eight years than Al Queda could ever dream of doing. They have given Al Queda massive gifts. Getting us stuck in a quagmire in Iraq; botching the invasion of Afghanistan and letting Bin Laden escape; dividing this nation by exploiting bigotry and fear; undermining our civil liberties; spending trillions overseas to fight for PNAC, chickenhawk dreams, while our own economy goes into the dumper.

Again, Al Queda couldn't ask for anything more.

And you're proud of him. Amazing.

The key here is that no matter what the Dems do, they should at least come together as a party and denounce Rove and anyone else who has failed to show up under subpoena. And I don't mean just once. I mean on the Senate and House floors. Repeatedly. Repeat the repeatedly. Call Rove what he is. A coward. Say that word. Repeatedly. Call him out. Call him a lying, lawbreaking coward. And then, no matter what hail of criticism they receive, stand by those words. Put censure up to a vote. Stand by that. Don't back down. If the shoe were on the other foot, we all know the Republicans would do that. Heck, they actually wasted taxpayer dollars and time to vote on that nonsense about Christmas and Christianity!! And the Dems can make a big, nationally televised deal about Rove breaking the law? They can't make a big, nationally televised deal about Rove sticking out his lying tongue at Congress and the Constitution?

Censure. Call him out. Don't mince words, or try to be subtle. Call him what he is. A lying, lawbreaking coward.

Repeat and repeat and repeat. Oh, and, bring up the part that Bush plays in all of this. And Cheney too.

It would be quite interesting to find out if the law permits a president under criminal investigation to use
his power to pardon, if doing so is used to prevent his own prosecution.

Where does presidential power end and obstruction of justice begin in a nation of laws?

the president can't pardon himself, but, if it gets bad enough, he could pardon Cheney, resign & then Cheney could pardon him.

Sound familiar?

Who cares what happens now, Bush will just pardon him anyway. Dems should wait and get him when a Dem is in office. Wait a minute, I almost forgot, Dems have no spine, and I doubt they'd do anything anyway.

Correct..

Now is not the time and the Dems know this. They are biding their time for when we havew real leadership in office and can actually go after these criminals and bring them to justice without some repug pardoning them.

Say it with me folks.....

Couldn't Bush pardon this pig if he is convicted? Perhaps dragging this out a little longer and getting a guily conviction after Bush leaves office? Don't really know how these things work.

Favorite    Flag as abusive Posted 07:09 AM on 07/13/2008

True. But makes no difference because, as a precautionary step, Bush is going to pardon his whole crew before he leaves office whether they have been indicted or not. In fact, I would not be surprised if he attempted to pardon himself too.

The fact that bush and cheney and rove live on despite all the dishonest and immoral things they have done and the lives they have destroyed must be of great comfort to atheists in their quest to show there is no God.

How right you are! It just gives US more ammo! I do ,however, believe in Karma. That's not a religion thing, it just works a lot better than waiting on a non entity to answer your prayers!

Perhaps as an act of civil disobedience, everyone under Federal subpoena should refuse to show up. I'd like to see the Government try to explain how come it's arresting thousands of people who refuse to comply with a subpoena but Karl Rove seems to be immune from the same behavior.

Anyone that lives near Rove that's pissed off about this needs to form a militia and make a citizens arrest on this clown.

If the Congress won't enforce the laws, it's the right and duty of the American citizens to enforce them.

This is a sin and a shame for them NOT TO HAVE ARRESTED ROVE YET! I am appalled. After this election I'm going to really access my democratic status for the future. An independent is sounding good right now.

I wish somebody would order the feds to place Rove under arrest. And I would give it about 20 minutes before B u s h orders him cut him loose from custody. "Turdblossom" doesn't have to obey a silly subpoena. Who do we commoners think we are trying to tell the Court Jester what to do? Silly Americans. We must think we live in a democracy or something.

What a great post. My feelings exactly, and I'm sure those of many million more people. As much as I dislike Bush and Cheney and all their supporters, my dislike for the spineless Democratic leadership has grown almost equal.

Could you imagine if Rove was a Democrat and the Republicans headed all these committees?
He would have been handcuffed long ago.

Pelosi, and Hoyer, and Reid, have put their ideas of political expediancy above the law. Executive Privilege does not apply to protecting Rove in his stacking of the Justice department with partisan Republicans, or his outing of a CIA agent, but the Demo leadership keep rationalizing their political cowardice and their inabilities to defend the Constitution and live up to their oaths of office.

Maybe the next guy that breaks a law, can say to the judge "the people want to put what I did behind us", as a defense.

And why doesn't Hillary speak up about this, or Gore, or Kerry, or even Obama, damn it. Rove has done damage to all of them.

Attention Democrats, get a hold of some of the brightest attorneys, specializing in constitutional law. Inquire about your rights and responsibilities related to your Rove problem, and FOLLOW THROUGH with the advice your given.
