Let's say I received a subpoena from the Justice Department today telling me I had to testify about matters it considered vital to national security.
Let's say I told them, "I could give a rat's ass about your subpoena, blow me."
What do you think would happen?
I would be in Guantanamo dining on that "cockmeat sandwich" that Harold and Kumar avoided.
So why is Karl Rove walking around free today? Because the Democrats talk a good game but when it comes to taking action, they fail time and time again.
It's simple. Congress tells you that you have to testify? You testify. It's the law. Period.
It doesn't take an epiphany to know that the Bush administration could care less about the law, the Constitution, morality, or life itself.
Where's the action by Congress to enforce its own subpoena? Where is justice? Where is the Democratic leadership? Send some cops, cuff Rove, march him to the hearing and if he refuses to talk, lock him up till he does.
Matter of fact, send him to Guantanamo. He'll confess to everything from car theft to murdering Jon Benet Ramsey. He looks soft, anyway.
What is most astounding is how incredibly far the Democrats in Congress are behind the curve of where the public is at on this and so many other issues.
Joe Lieberman must go? Steny Hoyer is the Congressman who must go first.

Why aren't there more comments here, you are absolutely correct. Be like NIKE and JUST DO IT.
Thats all the American People are asking for, use the Power you have to enforce the Law, it was given to you in the Constitution. They just keep backing off and let them get away with everything.
Karl Rove, coward.
I blame Obama. Shoot everything else around here is his fault, so I'm sure someone will find a way to put this on him as well.
No, only his own decisions are his fault. Like FISA. Certainly nothing that happens in the House. However, he does have influence as the would-be leader of the party - if he stands firm that will inspire others to do the same. If he caves, that sends a terrible message.
If you had the President watching your back, you could tell Congress to go sh-t in their hat, too!
Anyway, the White House can hire or fire whatever lawyers they want, whenever they want, for any or no reason. It's called the Spoils System, and is an honored tradition in Administration politics. Congress doesn't have a leg to stand on, and they know it-- and so does Karl Rove.
And all this could have been avoided if they were truthful and admit they fired them for political reasons. Instead they lied and said performance reasons, thus ruining their reps as good employees for no reason at all.
We're a nation of laws. Why do you support breaking the law? People like you are a great reason to vote the GOP out of existence. They act far more like the British royalty we overthrew than our founding fathers.
We're a nation is crisis. We're stuck in Iraq, immobilized by high oil prices, families are losing their homes.
Focus. Congress needs to focus.
Mr. Rove's insolence is a tempting - oh so tempting - distraction.
BushCo used Illegal surveillance to get dirt on over half the democrats in congress.
There will be no convictions, no impeachment, no accountability, perhaps no election.
There will be: War with Iran, more torture, more renditions, more fascism.
And maybe NO ELECTION. I'm sure they can start a 'SKIRMISH" with Iran - just enough to call in the use one of the laws passed recently, that he can "cancel" the election in the case of a national emergency and who is better than the Republican criminals at causing an emergency.
"It's simple. Congress tells you that you have to testify? You testify. It's the law. Period."
That's where you're wrong, Tom. Why, at this very moment, the House is putting together a bi-partisan bill to grant Karl Rove retroactive immunity. It will be moved to the Senate where it will pass, 69-28. That will be the law... the new law... the bi-partisan breakthrough... so no problem.
I would be very willing to be there in person wherever Rove is showing his slimy little face and do a CITIZEN'S ARREST of him.
Anyone else want to join me? ANYONE can do a CITIZEN'S ARREST and the local constabulary MUST FOLLOW THRU with it.
IT'S OUR DUTY AS GOOD CITIZENS (so you can SEE where that places our governmental "hirees"/representatives - NOT DOING THEIR DUTY AS GOOD CITIZENS)
A citizen's arrest is an arrest made by a person who is not a sworn law enforcement official. In common law jurisdictions, the practice dates back to medieval England and the English common law, when sheriffs encouraged ordinary citizens to help apprehend law breakers.
Despite the title, the arresting person does not usually have to be a citizen of the country where he is acting, as they are usually designated as any person with arrest powers.

What astounds me is that no one on the Judiciary Committee has the balls to "attach" Rove's earnings until he fulfills his duty as a citizen to testify before Congress. I'll be that if Fox were enjoined from paying him, Rove would be off the air very quickly.
Very good idea...but he'll find a way to get around that even, I am sure...of course if Fox aided and abetted this, they should be drummed out of business.
This is a shining example of WHY congress has a 9% approval rating...
Obama, with his miserable voting record, doesn't add to its luster...nor does McCain...two awful peas in the pod...America once again has to pick between two terrible choices...well, many of us won't be playing along with this hopeless game.
I disagree NTO, you are "playing along" by your very post here. And placing Obama in a "pod" with McCain indicates that you are either incredibly stupid or a troll. While I don't always agree with Obama, he is leaps and bounds above McCain as our choice to lead this country. Can one man singlehandedly overcome the fascist corporate ownership of America? Sadly, no. But between the two candidates, one inspires the people to stand up, the other promises more of the same. An incredibly EASY choice. The political system whereby you have a "perfect" candidate does not exist, nor will it ever. While we must convey our opinions to what actions should be taken by our elected leaders, they are held hostage to a whole gamut of political realities, including a complicit national media that will bury them if given half a chance. Media reform is where we should be concentrating our oversight. Until we get the fourth estate back, we are up sh*t creek without a paddle.
