Alright, you got me. I was pretty loose in my use of the term attractive.
Attractive blondes have always drawn attention, but in recent years we have given way too much attention to the antics of blonde women for non-news activities. In an attempt to fill space, the 24 hour quasi-news stations have put a variety of fair haired females on the front page. The most recent trend started with the Anna Nicole Smith debacle. It's a bit ironic that Anna Nicole spent much of her short life without much covering her body and suddenly she was being covered like no one has ever been covered.
As Nicolemania finally started to subside, I had visions of the media taking a break from the blonde headline creationist period. No sooner than the ink had dried on the plethora of custody papers being filed for the orphaned Smith child, the new queen of blonde non-news headlines was crowned. Unlike Nicole, this blonde was a spoiled rich kid that couldn't seem to keep from making poor decisions and screwing up. The sex video, the crotch flashes in public, her driving record and then the 'hard' time she pulled in the joint gave her way more than her 15 minutes. It's too bad that Mother Teresa didn't get the amount of press that Anna and Paris got. If she had poverty or hunger in the world would be a thing of the past.
Sharing the spot light of blondedum with Ms. Paris, we had to suffer through the Britney and Nicole Ritchie circus performances. I think they were both blondes but it's tougher to tell these days. Some of the true indicators are missing or have been altered.
Throughout this stretch of "crack" journalism focusing on blondes, there was another light haired one fighting for her 15 minutes. It is really becoming a problem because this blonde just won't go away. Let's recap her journey through publicity whoredum. There were the compassionate comments about the widows from 9-11. Let's not forget the use of a troublesome gay slur 'F' word as a description of John Edwards. We also heard her talk about wishing someone's son was killed by a terrorist.
In her column this week she stirred the pot once again. In response to a comment by the now infamous Rev. Wright, she tried to joke about 'doing her Klan-related murdering on casual Fridays.' I am struggling finding the humor in her most recent comment as I have struggled with many of her rantings over the years. Fame must be a horrible addiction because Ann Coulter will stop at nothing to keep her 15 minutes going.
I guess that it matters not if your remarks make you appear like an ignorant, insensitive and callous bigot as long as you stay in the headlines. If I was an insensitive and callous guy, I might say if you ever need a heart or a brain transplant, she would be good donor source. At this point in time, it appears she is using neither her heart nor her brain. But since I try not to make stupid, ignorant, insensitive or callous remarks I will just say:
Ann, it's not too late to make a positive contribution to the world, but this part of your journey needs to end and these 15 minutes of fame are up!
