The Audacity of Dopes V

Madam Speaker,

Here is today's example of why you must immediately move to begin the impeachment process:

After lying to the American people in 2005 that his 'privatization' scheme for Social Security would 'save' this crucial safety net from the future 'disaster' only he and his ideologues foresaw, President Bush has yet again not taken no for an answer and begun a whole new assault to get his hands on the money of working-class Americans.

In his new budget, Bush allocates 29.3 billion to establish private accounts in 2012, the very same accounts the public already resoundingly rejected. No matter, he'll yet again defy the will of the American majority and this time, rather than try to convince people that his lies are truth and his theft is insurance, he'll try and sneak it into law via the budget without the public hearing about it.

In addition, the president has re-nominated two men to the board of trustees of Social Security that were rejected by Congress the last time he nominated them, a rejection he subsequently ignored by appointing them to the board anyway, while Congress was in recess.

The audacity of this man is incredible, and his utter disregard for the will of the people or the legal processes of the government are a danger not only to the welfare of Americans, but to the Constitution he has sworn to uphold.

How much further does he have to go before you heed the call of the American majority to begin impeachment proceedings? What new assault on common Americans will be the straw that breaks the camel's back?

One hopes that the historically unprecedented madman in the White House would not be emboldened enough to continue these assaults on democracy and the citizens of the United States if impeachment was underway. One thing is certain, though--if the president were removed from office, he would no longer have the power to commit such acts.

The world is waiting for you and your fellow Democrats to wake up. Will today be the day?

Tomorrow we'll have another reason for you, as we will every day, until you accept responsibility for the public mandate that swept you into your historically unprecedented position of power and end the war, and impeach The President.
