The Iraqi Official Accused in the Niger Uranium Fabrication

Wissam Al-Zahawie, former Iraqi ambassador to the Vatican, was accused by the Bush Administration in 2003 of having secretly sought uranium from Niger, an accusation which was proven to be fabricated.

Al-Zahawie, pictured below in Amman this year, says all he obtained in Niger was a camel's saddle as a gift. Today Al-Zahawie serves Jordan's Prince Hassan at a key think tank on Iraq and the Middle East. See my March 21 interview with Al-Zahawie on the Huffington Post.
