These doodles were done while on a book tour for the my latest picture book, Steam Train, Dream Train, written by Sherri Duskey Rinker. I often sketch people in public and on this trip I discovered that an airplane is full of captive - if not willing - models. Actually, the only passenger visible enough to draw is the person across the aisle and one row ahead, so everyone in the series is seen from the same angle and distance. Big thanks to Chronicle Books Publicist Lara Starr for inventing the term "AirPortraits."
