Tom Schey built the first conventionally constructed platinum LEED home in the State of California.

A builder/developer, now based in Los Angles, he grew up and lived as a practicing attorney in suburban Detroit until 2001.

Moving to L.A. brought about a significant change of perspective. Being a triathlete and lover of the outdoors, his appreciation of the natural beauty of this country grew exponentially with his move to the west coast.

He has been involved with developing homes since his move to LA. An epiphany struck while watching an episode of Bill Maher’s show, where Ian McLellen stated he was selling power back to the grid, power generated by photovoltaic cells on his home in London.

Understanding the homes he was building would most likely outlast his time on this planet, Schey vowed to create structures in which sustainability and environmentalism were incorporated within.

Schey conceived and developed project7ten, to raise consciousness on the possibilities that lie within the construction industry, and is currently involved with the creation of www.737conserve.com, which he feels takes sustainability to a new level within the residential playing field.

He currently contributes freelance articles in this field, consults, is complete the 737 project, and has a company with partner Kelly Meyer, which will be introducing a line of house cleaning products in the near future.

When it comes to the US auto business, corporations, our government, feed us info and sales pitches, abd...
