Election Day iPod Shuffle

I was standing in line at the polls today, ipod plugged in and rockin' of course, and realized that the music I was listening to was so appropriate for today's election, an election day mix, if you will.

"I Kissed a Girl" by Kate Perry, an obvious reference to John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin as his running mate. It's subtle but if you listen to the song, it really does put an interesting new spin on it - and McCain should be used to spin by now.

"Labels or Love" by Fergie, an ode to Sarah Palin's new found love of Christian Louboutin pumps and Valentino jackets... "I can see Sak's Fifth Avenue from my house!"

"Rock You like a Hurricane" by The Scorpions - I live in Louisiana and Mary Landrieu is on the ballot. We haven't forgotten Katrina and Rita, by the way.

"Been Caught Stealin'" by Jane's Addiction, if you live in Alaska and still wish to vote for Ted Stevens.

"It's My Party" by Leslie Gore, for all of those Republican candidates who are losing key elections today due to the McCain/Palin - Bush disenfranchisement. Go ahead, cry. It's ok.

"Downbound Train" by Bruce Springsteen, for Joe Biden's dedication to the blue collar man and riding the Amtrak every day to and from his home to D.C.

And finally,

"Lifetime Piling Up" by Talking Heads, for Barack Obama, believing in the American dream that anyone can build a highway to the stars and become President! His whole lifetime has brought him to this one day! This is historic and I am proud to be a part of history.

So now I want to know - what were you listening to on your ipod while you stood in line and voted today?
