"OBAMA-WEBB SWEEP TO VICTORY, " reads the headline Wednesday, November 5th, 2008 in The New York Times.
I've seen the future and thought I'd come back and share the good news. Everyone expected a tough, close race against McCain when Obama elbowed Hillary out of the top spot. For weeks there was furious speculation as to whom he would chose as his VP but when he settled on Senator Jim Webb, former Marine, former Secretary of the Navy under Ronald Reagan, dad of a young man recently returned from Iraq and from the swing-state of Virginia, all the pieces fell into place for a rout. The Webb choice defanged the McCain advantage on militaristic experience and like Obama the one-term Senator from Virginia represented a fresh face that the electorate craved. The Democrats coasted to victory with the simple slogan: "Bring 'em Home! Obama-Webb '08."
The McCain-Kay Bailey Hutchison ticket tried to counter with their own slogan, "A HUNDRED YEARS OF MORE WAR!" but it never really caught on.

Forgot to mention—I have had this exact same conversation a few days ago about this particular Dem ticket. We thought it'd be tough to beat too. :)
yeah right
Funny, and definitely on point.
Ha ha ha.
The Clintons are hardly out of it yet. Let's wait for Texas. All eyes are on Texas.
Webb??? Great the progressives get Obama to the general, and Webb breaks their heart. When the far left finds out how pro-war, pro-gun Webb is that will be the end of it. Thanks for trying to bolster Obama's light resume with an angrier and lighter resume, but no thanks. Everyone wants Webb, so he'll add military gravitas, but I thought war was what we wanted to get away from. There are some great VP choice's out there, but Webb? Dude, what are you smokin'?
Not to mention the fact that VP is a grooming for President. Do you as a Democrat wanna see Jim Webb as President?
This ticket would beat anybody. Webb, a centrist, would compliment Obama perfectly. I'm hoping this is what the Democratic ticket looks like. It seems America doesn't care about a Governor this election cycle. After Gov. George W. Bush, the whole governor making a better president than a Senator really doesn't hold any water anymore.
Obama-Richardson?
I think it will be Obama-Edwards
As we saw, Webb is not a good politician. He won the senate seat by default(thank God). However, as a patriot(true), intellect and good guy, he is unparalleled. I can envision noone more qualified to take over chainey's covert agency.
Cheney was not a good politician either. VP doesn't have to be a good politician. Just a good backbone to the nominee.
Yes to Obama-Webb. Ready and RIGHT on one day one.
Obama/Webb used to be a winning ticket. Until Webb just betrayed progressives everywhere by voting for immunity for the telecoms.
Webb should be removed from office along with all the other Democrats that failed their constituents.
Smart piece. Webb is a shade conservative for me (he still mostly defends the Vietnam War),but he's strong on Iraq, a strong economic populist, and most important, I think he'd negate McCain's "war hero" frame and also really resonate with working class voters, a critical constituency not just in Virginia, but everywhere
There are other good possibilities, but he's definitely one to consider

He's strong on Iraq? Nope. He hasn't done one thing to stop the occupation. I challenge anybody to link to any article which says otherwise. Webb has voted with Bush and against progressives every time. Webb is a closet Repig.
Powell could redeemed himself
I could take 2 African Americans on the ticket. Could you?
Obama/Powell
I would rather have Conyers on the ticket. (Powell just did not have the cahones when needed.)
Wendy, two for the price of one, Obama/Jessie Jackson. Maybe then Obama would remember where
his father came from, and the struggle of black americans in this country. TAKE OFF THE MASK OBAMA.
Where is father came from? You mean the one that abandoned him? You mean the Obama who was raised by his white mother? Take off what mask? Maybe if he were raised black, he wouldn't even have a shot at being president. Maybe if more black fathers (and I use that term loosely for someone who just deposits some sperm) would stick around, the struggle of black Americans would be taken more seriously.
Powell was instrumental in lying this country into war. He knew better, to hell with him.
IF it turns out you predicted this correctly i'll give you a dollar.
