Country First: President Palin?

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Though I plan on living forever I still make sure that I have a robust life insurance policy to ensure that my two young children won't be starving and homeless were I to suddenly pass away.

Senator McCain, I shouldn't have to spell this out for you, but your choice of vice president is kinda sorta the same thing. Your choice of running mate is your life insurance policy for us, the American people, in case something, god forbid, happens to you.

Entrusting the most important job in the free world to President Palin is like leaving your children an insurance policy consisting of a freezer full of moose meat.

You are correct. This ridiculous pick not only calls in question John MCain's judgement, it questions his sanity. This woman's life is like a sopa opera. As one poster put it, anyone can be president, but should they ? A resounding NO

It's certainly a valid point, since it shows us what McSame's judgement is really like, but I'm surprised that anyone thinks this could actually happen.

Although Palin was born in Idaho and graduated with a bachelor's degree in journalism from the state's flagship university, she attended Wasilla High School and has lived in Alaska most of her life. Palin and her husband, Todd, have four children. Todd is the three-time champion of the Iron Dog, the world's longest snowmobile race.

Two years of college. Ready on day one to be President? You've lost your mind.

Let's see, 7 years in the Illinois (populous state) state senate and 3 years in the US Senate from Illinois (populous state) is less experience than 2 terms as mayor of an Alaskan town of less than 7000 and 1.5 years as governor of Alaska (a state with a total population of less than 1 million.) I do not understand your reasoning...sorry...well not really sorry.

I'm sick of the media getting Barack's experience wrong. He served 4 terms as an Illinois State Senator (1996 - 2004) after which he ran for and won the U.S. Senate seat as the Junior Senator from Illinois (2004 - present) andin 2007 announced his candidacy for President.

So he's was an elected public official with impressive legislative credentials for 11 years BEFORE he decided to run for President.

Why do these hacks in the media keep saying he only has 1 and a half years of experience?!!!

That's not even touching his academic background from Columbia and Harvard. He taught Constitutional law. He's a sitting member of the foreign affairs committee. He has a public record of his views on policy dating back for years, even before he became the Senator of Illinois.

He only has limited National experience. His campaigning VIA Oprah, started about 3 months in to his term. The problem that most people have with Obama is his lack of confrontation. He WILL NOT go on FOX, as did Hillary, and has not had a face to face debate with McCain. He is COMPLETELY UNPROVEN as a candidate. Other than the kumbya speeches, he is not showing his hand. Keep in mind, Legislative credentials are not the same as Executive Credentials. That is one reason why McCain balanced the ticket with a governor for VP.

Palion has the same qualifications Bill Clinton had when he took office. And, that's more time in executive level management than Obama has.

more time in executive level management than Mc Cain has.

By that logic.

How many dumb managers do you know that have all the qualifications, all the "experience" ( time served) but are still dumb. How many "real workers" do you know that are covering the backsides of more senior staff ? Its not the years that count, its ability and Obama has demonstrated ability to manage a national (not just state) organisation. He has shown foresight, planning and good judgment in allocating the time and resources to the vetting process that it merited. McCain has shown that he has no plan and no clue. "If you have a poor plan you will fail, if you have a good plan you will have success, but when you have no %^&&&% plan at all, then you are a dumb ^*^*%>

Exactly right - Obama has no executive experience - oh! may be he was a community organizer!! He has not managed any significant group of people to accomplish anything for any group of citizens.

Clinton was Governor for a total of 12 years, and he had been the Attorney General for 2 before that.

He was a Rhodes scholar.

I may personally think the man is a bit of a slimeball, but even thinking of comparing the experience Bill Clinton has when he ran for President with the utter lack of experience Palin has is a joke.

Obama has at least been vetted and validated by the campaign he's run. If there were any doubts of him being ready, you don't hear them now.

I can't believe that it is just okay for Evangelicals that kids less than 18 years old get pregnant.

They say that people commit mistakes and should be given a second chance in life; that's true and I believe in it. But together with forgiveness is what can be done to prevent the same thing from happening again and again.

Now I ask the Evangelicals: What can we do to prevent our kids from being sexually irresponsible?

These attacks on Palin are only going to backlash. You guys don't understand this and this is why you have not had political success in the last 30 years. I'm not saying she doesn't have weaknesses, but you are underestimating her strengths. I would bet my life on the fact that if Tim Kaine was Obama's VP choice you guys would not be so worried about the experience issue. The fact of the matter is she took on a corrupt Republican establishment in a close knit political arena. She is the most aggressive reformer in the country. She has accomplished more politically significant policies than Obama, and thats not spin. She has more executive experience than all three of the guys put together. Does she lack foreign policy experience, absolutely. SHE'S A GOVERNOR. McCain had to choose a governor, someone outside of Washington. Romney has more baggage than Palin and Pawlentey would only solidify the Republican base. He wouldn't appeal to a new electorate and it would of been such a yawn pick. By the way he has as much foreign policy experience as Palin, which makes me think there is an element of sexism with these attacks. Palin was my first choice for VP and I'm glad McCain took a chance on her. You guys should be worried and apparently you are considering how defensive you have been in recent days.

I am at a lost at how she would translate her experience (slim experience at that) being governor of Alaska (pop less than 1 million) with being a VP (or God-forbid, the President) of the whole US.

Republicans made fun of Bill Clinton's experience (real and long) of being Governor of Arkanas because it wasn't a major state! They love to forget the past as they make up the ground-rules.

As you all obviously have failed to realize, Moose meat tastes great while fornicating. I am sick and tired of everyone condemning this woman when she has finally given one of the most underrepresented demographics in American politics the voice that they need and deserve...JOIN Fornicators for Palin and defend our ability to fornicate.

Actually, moose meat is delicious. I've only had it once, but it was really great. Kinda like a mix of lamb and venison.

palin doesn't want you to fornicate. she wants you to be abstinent until marriage, even if you don't get married until you're 40.

Heck, we don't even get the fridge full of moose meat... more like, "hey, here's some snow shoes and a bow and arrow... go get your own".

I say again, his selection here puts his age and health squarely on the table for debate and examination!
