Country First: President Palin?

digg Share this on Facebook Huffpost - stumble reddit del.ico.us RSS

Though I plan on living forever I still make sure that I have a robust life insurance policy to ensure that my two young children won't be starving and homeless were I to suddenly pass away.

Senator McCain, I shouldn't have to spell this out for you, but your choice of vice president is kinda sorta the same thing. Your choice of running mate is your life insurance policy for us, the American people, in case something, god forbid, happens to you.

Entrusting the most important job in the free world to President Palin is like leaving your children an insurance policy consisting of a freezer full of moose meat.

Everyone mentions Sarah Palin's experience - or lack of it - but what about her education? She doesn't even have the educational qualifications to be a college professor! I don't understand what the Repubs are trying to pull here. All previous presidential nominees had the courtesy to pick a VP who was fully vetted and met minimum standards. Repubs have never shown any particular interest in equalizing women's roles in our culture, but now they are simply using her to further their own gains, since they have determined that people are interested in more equality in our society. They really don't WANT to, but their backs are against the wall. They usually like Stepford wives who will stand there and smile, but don't really dare to say much of anything - except quote their husbands. This pick is so wrong in so many ways. I would like to see a woman of substance in high office, such as Hillary Clinton or Kay Huthinson. Americans will only have two months to get to know the person who is 2nd in command of our entire country. I am not referring to her looks when I say we are buying a pig in a poke.

McCain is a gambler and he decided to risk the possibility that Palin would have to take over the Presidency in return for the political gain he might realize from selecting a woman. He is in a very real fashion using America as his personal Crap table. This is disgusting and totally irresponsible.

This also demonstrates that McCain is completely under the control of the far far far right wing of the party. This was clearly not his choice. It was the choice of the religion zealots in the party.

McCain cannot become President. He is a puppet and the real forces of evil that have almost ruined this country over the last eight years are trying to once and for all destroy all that is right about this country.

Nice to see how all these people reacted before they got their talking points. BTW, it looks like McCain just hired the guy behind the whisper campaign in SC in 2000.....

Before I heard this latest news today, John McCain had already scared the bejesus out of me with his seemingly careless (as in: couldn't care less about the country) pick. My guess was that he shot from the hip when his first pick didn't work out for some reason, and thought, "hum, who was that cute gal I had lunch with last winter? I bet she'd be fun". But why would she, who is obviously critically needed by her family at this point, take his offer? Does she also consider him a "soulmate"? Does she simply crave the medical benefits and salary that a win would give her family--as if this were some sort of reality show? Who knows. As one of those (previously) disaffected Hillary supporters, I got online and ordered an Obama T-shirt last night. I'll be wearing it pretty much non-stop after it arrives, despite the fact that I live in an extremely red, not-to-be-flipped-this-time, state. I'm convinced at this point that the Republicans are simply nuts, and I want to make sure that nobody thinks I'm affiliated with them in any way, shape, or form. We know that Bush was a bit "simple" (or "incurious", as some charitably put it), but I fear that McCain may be feeble-minded, and, unlike Bush, apparently uncontrollable by his handlers.

"Country First"?

Why not AMERICA FIRST???

Bill Maher says, "What country?"

Maybe Iraq? Iran? Georgia? Music? Buffet?

Maybe "Country" is code for Republicans.
After all, Cindy McCain did say, "Let's take our Republican hats off and put our American hats on."
I guess there is a difference in loyalty.

McCain's decision for Palin was more loyal to his base than to the United States of America.

This whole thing scares me and makes me sad at the same time. So help me God, if McCain pulls this election out of his ass, I'm going to have to seriously look into moving to another country.
