Tyler Marshall worked for the Los Angeles Times for 27 years, mostly as a foreign correspondent, covering wars, coups revolutions, earthquakes, and other international news. Marsall won a Pulitzer Prize with three other journalists for a project on how Walmart achieves everyday low prices. Following his years at the Los Angeles Times, Marshall went on to work as Director of Communications for International Medical Corps. Marshall is still involved with International Medical Corps, working as a freelance writer and correspondent for the organization in Haiti following the January 12 earthquake.

A Tale of Two Cities

Nearly three weeks after the January 12 earthquake, Port-au-Prince has become two separate cities. In one, the bustle of daily life slowly resumes. In the other an endless swath of rubble, partially collapsed buildings, with roofs awkwardly canted, remains frozen in the moment of Haiti's worst nightmare. It is dead.
