This latest development hasn't made him any friends, but is this really a 'Big, Fat, Marketing mistake' (Fox News), or brand management in action?
his is one area that should be on every fashionistas' lips as Singapore is set to become one of the biggest names to watch on the fashion radar.
Magazines like Mizz and Bliss were once my go to style bibles- guiding me towards bootleg jeans galore. Once upon a time, girls' magazines featured girls' fashion; but nowadays, the likes of Miss Vogue point their young fashionistas towards more adult wardrobe choices.
How does a design idea become reality? Start with a sketch, of course. We examine original drawings from some of the world's greatest designers, that could be termed works of art in themselves.
When Brit model sensation Cara Delevingne was spied wearing a Bad Ass Paris slogan t-shirt during Paris Fashion Week earlier this year, cult brand Cécile's debut SS13 collection was immediately thrust onto the fashion centre stage.
Men supposedly have it easy, particularly if you're required to wear a suit to work. There are simple rules that are easy to follow when wearing a suit, like ensuring your suiting is immaculately tailored and you have an arsenal of shirts and ties on rotation each week.
Women are often worried about how they look and that's not superficial. We know that our appearance has nothing to do with how smart, creative, or hardworking we are, but it plays powerfully into what society decides we are worth.
I am very bad at painting my nails. As far as I can tell, painting the dominant hand with the non-dominant hand is as tricky as finding the perfect lipstick, jean or bobble hat, all tasks I wouldn't wish on an enemy. But I am particularly inept.
Of course, how we present ourselves as women in our daily working lives has nothing to do with beauty pageants or red carpets. That said, appearance is a component of the professional toolkit.
In response to a boycott, brands may cut production or pull out of factories. This would lead to the loss of jobs, garment workers struggling to feed their families and families being unable to send their children to school.
The exhibition itself examines punk's impact on high fashion from the movement's birth in the 1970s through to its continuing influence today. Original punk garments will be juxtaposed with recent fashion to illustrate how haute couture and ready-to-wear have borrowed punk's visual symbols...
My sister and I often muse that we must've been born in the wrong era. We remain fascinated by 60s style and its icons, particularly Twiggy, Jean Shrimpton, Jane Birkin and Edie Sedgewick. Although I attempt to keep my style varied, I always fall back on certain 60s staples that flatter my shape.
When news broke last week that yet another disaster had befallen a garment factory in Bangladesh, I was angered and upset, but not very surprised. It had been a matter of months since the Tazreen factory fire had claimed 112 workers' lives, and it was inevitable that tragedy would strike again before long. I sat at my laptop, scrolling through Twitter, as more details unfolded. Incidentally, I was wearing a Primark dress.
The Bangladesh factory supplied goods to a number of fast fashion retailers, including Primark, J.C. Penney and allegedly, Wal-Mart. And where is the outrage? Where are the crowds of protesters lobbying for better oversight of apparel production? Apparently, we can sacrifice a few human lives for a cheap pair of sunglasses.
It may only be the month of May, but autumn's cuts, styles and trends will be in the shops before you can say, 'is that it?' ... Since filing through the showrooms and trawling the rails of the autumn/winter collections, it is clear that one trend is here to stay; Americana.
Some have suggested a consumer boycott of Bangladeshi garments at these retailers, but a boycott could be counter-productive because doing so could jeopardise the job security of the garment workers. The best course of action is to put consumer pressure on Primark. We can't shift our society's addiction to cheap fashion overnight, but we can insist that as the buyers, Primark must put pressure on their supply chain to adhere to the basic tenets of a safe working environment.
It was a busy week of after work events and each one was very different. Here is a quick rundown of my top 3...
It may not seem like the most fashionable place in the world, generally anywhere that isn't London, Paris, Milan or New York tends to get lost in the background noise of the fashion world, but Scandinavian fashion is making it big internationally and is slowly but surely creeping into London style.
Hands up who has bared a naked leg this week. I have! The sun was back from maternity leave for a couple of days and bathed London in glorious sunlight. I am perpetually optimistic regarding mother nature's attention to the weather.
