COEUR D'ALENE, ID-NORTH IDAHO COLLEGE
By Kathleen Miller and Celia Hunko
"I've wanted to do this since Bobby Kennedy"
This statement was the sentiment of Daniel Megow, a fervent Obama supporter, in explanation of his aggressive campaigning tonight for Sen. Obama. Megow is one of many who have come out to the Kootenai County Democratic Caucus tonight at North Idaho College.
1,205 people are in currently in the gymnasium where the caucus is being held, a vast majority of them Obama supporters.
MSNBC just reported Obama's win in Idaho, but it's important to note that the caucus has not begun here yet. The turnout is unprecedented in this extremely Red part of the state. "The Democratic support is wonderful," stated Bette Inseth, a Clinton supporter who moved to Kootenai County about two years ago.
The atmosphere is loud and proud, with shouts coming from all corners of the gym for the different candidates in the race.
Even John Edwards, who recently suspended his race, has a gathering of support here. "He has brought us back to the Democratic values, and has made Obama and Clinton better candidates," explained Edwards Caucus Chair Kristy Johnson.
Clinton supporters are also making their voices heard. Clinton supporter Rebecca, a middle-aged woman from Post Falls, credited Clinton for her "intelligence...I trust her to be a good leader."
