Yep, as some may have guessed, I'm a bit of a philosophy geek. When I went to school back in the early 2000's I was annoyed at the fact that all we did was study philosophers and their philosophies in the past. While it was very interesting, it left me the impression that philosophy was a stagnant, old, quaint pastime.
I could not have been more wrong. The politics of today are, literally, a metaphysical war of various, incompatible philosophies, battling it out in the realm of public opinion. The battles are fought by convincing people to believe the same way you do, with the winner gaining philosophical control over everyone's destiny. What an amazing (and sometimes horrifying) thing to behold!
Philosophy is certainly not dead and gone. It's alive and well and constantly reshaping our universe as we speak.
I'm so intrigued. And I want to be involved. As Alethea (the Greek word for truth) I aim to provide a thoughtful, ethical, and well reasoned analysis to the issues of the day. Why not use my ample philosophical background to help fight these battles? We all have a stake in the outcome. Perhaps I can sway an opinion or two.
