21 Yellow dog Democrats broke rank with the Democrats and voted with the Republicans. Blame them. posted 07/19/2008 at 23:41:41
Where are the votes coming from? The dems do not have 2/3 of the house? No matter what any individual congressperson wants, or screams unless there are 2/3 of the house willing to vote for impeachment it won't happen.
The republicans won't go for it no matter how strong the evidence. posted 07/19/2008 at 23:13:21
Won't get the crook impeached if every Democrat voted for it. Not enough democrats in the house to get enough votes. Do not those who scream impeachment no matter what have the ability to count. Can't impeach without 2/3 of the house. Cant convict without 2/3 of the senate. There are not the votes. posted 07/19/2008 at 23:07:26
Democrats in congress have a higher rating than the pres, it is the Repubs that bring down the average. posted 07/19/2008 at 23:04:34
That is true, I hope. If the Repubs manage to steal it there is always McClone.

The problem is it is a vote count that matters. If you cannot get the Repubs to even look at the evidence, There is no way to get the 2/3 necessary. I wonder if people screaming for impeachment realize that if every Democrat voted for impeachment we don't have enough votes. No matter what Georgie did, no matter how strong the evidence is the Repubs wouldn't vote to impeach. These are not the sort of Republicans that were in the house during watergate who were willing to look at facts. This is the insane right wing who wouldn't impeach Georgie for any reason at all. posted 07/19/2008 at 23:04:06
Understandably perhaps she has one platform, get out of Iraq. There are other real problems as well. We need to get out of Iraq absolutely. The energy companies are not drilling in 3/4 of the leases they currently have.
The energy companies will not commit to selling the oil they find in the US to Americans, they seemingly want to sell it to other countries. How is this a sound energy policy. No way I believe that it is supply and demand. When we were in the UK in March the gas at our local station was 1.17 a liter it is still 1.17 a liter at that gas station. My cousin in Huddersfield states it was 1.19 at her station in Feb and it is now 1.17. Here in the US our local station was selling gas in March for $3,35 a gal when we left. It is now $4.29. Funny worldwide shortage that goes up 30% only in the US when they are trying to strong arm more leases. posted 07/19/2008 at 22:44:55
In the military, back when I was in during the Vietnam war. we tere told repeatedly that we were to refuse an obviously illegal order.
In your world it seems the government gives ordert and the "little people" are to obey.

You really need to learn that then government is our employee not our parent.

Yes we should punish people who break the law, even if Georgie says to. The telecoms have lawyers, it is clear that in order to get government contracts they were anxious to assist Bushie, I suspect them of trying to get evidence of something embarassing to blackmail compliance.

Exclusive: Former Iraqi PM Allawi To Testify To Congress Wednesday

Can't see how it could be horrible for the dems. Allawi was Bushies bought and paid for pet rubber stamp. He parroted everything that the Bushie or his Governer General said. He continues to echo Bushies statements and it becomes even more obvious that a toady he is. If he reflects what the Iraqis have said they want in poll after poll it supports the democratic position. His cheerleading for the Americans in Iraq wasn't supported by the election, they elected some one else. It will be interesting to see what he has to say now about the American occupation of his country. posted 07/19/2008 at 14:16:48

Oh you righties do like to stir things up. Unfortunately you are just looking silly. I guess that is what McClones do when they realize their candidate is living way in the past. Has no idea what country he is worried about, and does't know the major players in the mid east. If he could just learn about the internet he could look things up. "That's 'Screw In a Lightbulb, SIR,' Airman!"

Outside, independent auditors, well monitered to avoid corruption. They need to go through the budget for the military like every other department. Once identified all this silly waste needs to be rooted out. Last I heard the military cannot even be audited due to poor bookeeping. That needs to be corrected. Our troops are given showers in Iraq, built by KBR, that often electrocutes them. They are fed spoiled food and given contaminated water courtesy of Halliburton on no bid contracts. Officers live in luxery while the enlisted are mistreated. If they are injured, little medical health care. And they military has actually had the nerve in memos to insist that the doctors not call the injured disabled because it costs money. McCain has been party to this for over 20 years. We need better oversight. posted 07/19/2008 at 15:16:20
What has happened to the military. In the 1930s the military general, Smedley Butler, who found out about a coup turned in the plotters, among them Bushies Grandpa. If now the generals are plotting against the American people, it is just another reason not to buy them off. I say. No differentiation between the enlisted and the generals, except that which is needed to complete their job. They do not need private capsules, private chefs, special toys,or even monogramed silk sheets provided at taxpayer expense. Their salaries are very good, and their pension benefits are excellent. Other than that they should serve just like everyone else. posted 07/19/2008 at 15:08:23
My view the generals are feeding at the trough. In my view, transport for the military should be handled efficiently and safely. There should be no difference between accomodations for officer and the enlisted, except as required by job obligations. I do realize that sometimes officers are dealing with classified paperwork that requires security. That should be provided. No need for leather seate, comfort capsules, or musical liquor cabinets. No need for 32 inch flat screen TVs either. A simple divider in part of the plane if there is a security requirement should be sufficient. If they have a MILITARY need to watch something on TV a much smaller screen should suffice. We the taxpayers are paying for the top brasses fluff and vanity toys and I don't like it. I want someone who will keep an eye on this sort of waste and nip it in the bud. McCain has been an enabler of this sort of extravagance, has voted for it. I guess rich people like he is just don't realize that most people have to be intelligent about their spending, he is oblivious to a lot more than the price of gas, compputers, and the world as it exists now. posted 07/19/2008 at 15:01:51

Can America Afford a McCain First Term?

Love the idea of a person at the helm that is cheap.Take the bus or subway absolutely. The donors expect careful use of their money. One of Clinton's problem was that she wasn't careful with her money. The thought of a person in the white house who says to people if you can get there by the bus cheaper than a taxi, take the bus. That is how I want govenment run. I don't want enormous sums spent on careless spending. Tax dollars should be carefully spent. A president who is careful with campaign funds is more likely to be careful with tax dollars, then there is more money for services. People will be more willing to pay taxes if they are not wasted but spent intelligently.
This is great. One reason to vote for Obama. posted 07/19/2008 at 00:52:37

Unemployment in the EU was 6.7% in March 2008. There they count everyone who is unemployed and looking for work. In the US they only count those currently receiving unemployment ins. When the benefits run out the US no longer counts them as unemployed. In actual numbers of people who are looking for work it is higher. In the US your benefits run out in 6 months. In the EU they do not. More of that care and concern for the less well off. Here your beneifts run out you are on your own. That means living on the street, with friends, with relatives. There it means that you live a decent life, there is training for other employment, and if you get ill you are cared for. In the US it means you die under a bridge. posted 07/18/2008 at 14:36:51
Yup nothing more awful than having a higher standard of living, a longer life span,a better economy, better health care, a higher amount of happiness, some security, and intelligent leaders. I could use some of that misery.

After spending time in Europe and spending time in the US. Europe has all those things the US has a higher misery level. Whooppee we are #1 in misery. We also have a much higher murder rate.

Socialism is giving a bit of care and concern for those who are children, elderly, ill, poor, and desperate. Capitalism is about giving a bit more money to the already well off. posted 07/18/2008 at 14:28:45

Republicans became liberals when? They have always been in favor of government money to the rich and fought against any for the less rich. That is why they are so much in favor of the tax cuts for the wealthy, the bail outs for the wealthy investors. Increasing costs and taxes for the poor, reduced assistance for anyone other than the wealthy. They attempt to curtail any efforts to fund national parks. Keep any resources for future generations, not the conservatives. Assist anyone other than those in their own club, no way. Republicans used to be the party of Lincoln they were the radical party trying to instill fairness and good practices in business. Then for whatever reason they became the party of "I have mine, white supremists, and god botherers. posted 07/18/2008 at 14:09:55

He has been a straight talker, on occasion, when it seemed politically useful. But his voting record is conservative GOP. He rails against pork and socialism for the rich, but as a rule he votes for it. In the current occupation he has voted for all the pork for all the govenment contactors. My Brother Was Killed on 9/11 with Republicans and Democrats

Even the military generals in Iraq have said this war cannot be won militarily. The military has never been able wo win an asymetrical war We can ship brigades all over the world but that will not win this war. Afghanistan has not been "liberated" by the Americans any more than Iraq has. The taliban are retaking bases in Afghanistan, we are not doing the necessary things to win there. We are not winning in Iraq. Voilence ebbs and flows in that country. The citizens of neither country wants the American puppet governments that we have decided is what they should have. When people are occupied by foreign troops who decide how they are to run their own countris "for their own good" it is not liberating a country. We don't have a prayer of killing enough Iraqis, or Afgans to make them love us or be grateful to us. As for liberating Iran. Considering that it is 10 times as populated as Iran, and we are still digging out from the flowers and candies they greeted us with, perhaps we should actually figure out how to liberate 1 country sucessfully before we actually go charging around the world liberating more countries. Perhaps we could get electicity to the Iraqis, like they had before they were liberated before we destroy another country's infrastructure. Keep in mind that Clinton caught the people who hit the world trade center in 1993, Bush hasn't. Something to be said for law enforcement. posted 07/17/2008 at 14:53:13

Nader cannot get elected because he does little other than whine. Between elections he makes speeches that tell you how wonderful Nader is ( I went to one at my local college, for an hour Nader told us that he was great, he has all answers, and that everyone except Nader is a crook. Only in the Republican world is an elderly woman wearing a t-shirt equating two presidents of the same party disrupting.

The wimpy shivering cowards in the Republican party are disrupted by a T-Shirt. Just imagine what would have happened if it had been a sign. Too delicate to see an opposing opinion. Pathetic, truely pathetic posted 07/11/2008 at 20:47:02

7 Ways To Find Your Own Happiness

I think you are making an assumption that there are only two states, fat and thin. There is also something called a healthy weight. The very overweight die at a younger age statistically and so do the very thin. It is a matter of common sense. I didn't see anywhere that she said she was at an unhealthy weight. It is possible cerrtainly to be too fat, but it is also possible to be too thin and as unhealthy. posted 07/13/2008 at 16:59:54

Phil Gramm Is Conservatism

I understand McCain thinks Gramm is a genious. Probably more intelligent than McCain but every bit as heartless.

Keep in mind that this pair has voted for cutting veterans benefits for people who har wounded, voted to uphold Bushies veto of health care for childred. They are a lovely pair. posted 07/13/2008 at 23:36:02

McCain Divorce Account Contradicts Court Documents

When McCain said "Chelsea Clinton is so ugly because her father is Janet Reno" about a 13 year old child. Pretty nast piece of work there. posted 07/12/2008 at 00:30:51
Yes I disparage them for that, I disparage Jefferson for owning people and raping the women he owned. I disparage Roosevelt for his cowardice in sending American citizens off to relocation camps and an only letting them out to die for their country. I diaparage Kennedy for several things including his ties to the Mafia and his cowardice over civil rights. Yes they all did good things but they all also did reprehensible things. They were human beings not gods. But every person who betrays their spouse is the sort of person who can never be entirely trusted. posted 07/12/2008 at 00:30:14
There is fidelity, a consideration. But his lack of honesty is a MAJOR concern. As my grandfather used to say "he is as crooked as a dog's hind leg." Remember Keating, remeber his lies. That is the standard. Having a liar who lies consistantly should not be president. posted 07/12/2008 at 00:20:02
It is if you spend the 7 years being unfaithful, as McCain has admitted. It is if you spend the time on the weekends when you should be working on your marriage you are curled up with your young mistress, courtesy of your Republican co-congressmen who are willing to loan you a house to have weekends in. By all accounts , including McCains own word the destruction of his first marriage was solely his fault. He found a rich mistress who would fund his political future in exchange for marriage. By all accounts he dumped his first wife absolutely brutally. So brutallyy that the Hollywood Conservatives Reagan and his wife were appalled and quit speaking to him. A liar is a liar. McCain is a liar and cannot be trusted. Either as a husband or as a man interviewing for a job. He is basically interviewing for a job and is telling us a new and obvious lie every day. I can't see why anyone would vote for him, who knows what he is, he lies. posted 07/12/2008 at 00:17:10
He "worked" on his marriage with a series on infidelities which he has admitted to. He worked on his marriage by following a young woman around at a party when married to another woman, he worked on his marriage with a year of trysts in houses provided by other republicans. Not the way most people work on their marriages. His dumping of his first wife was so brutal that the Reagans quit speaking to him. The man sure has a funny idea of working on it. posted 07/11/2008 at 23:52:00
So I assume you will be voting against McCain who has been right there voting to trucate our Constitutional rights. You will not be attempting to support a man who is in favor of torture, in favor of telecommunications spying, you will be voting against the man who wants us in Iraq 100 years. A man who had a woman arrested for wearing a t-shirt that said McCain=Bush in a public place. Welcome on board. posted 07/11/2008 at 23:35:53
If men can't get it up it is a medical condition. However if women take birth control pills for medical reasons it is not covered. Birth control pills are used for several medical conditions some of which are actually life threatening unrelated to reproduction, and McCain voted against their being covered. To be honest considering that he also voted against equal pay for women I think we know where his mind is. Men and their enjoyment got to cover that, women and their health no way. No need to pay them the same either. posted 07/11/2008 at 23:17:21
You are right, it is a non issue.

McCains lies and broken word however is an issue. He is now running a lie per day (that we know of). I wonder what he will lie about tomorrow?? posted 07/11/2008 at 23:01:48
Probably not the same people. I understand the Regans quit talking to him after he dumped his wife. The Regans were hardly the people who were fans of Clinton.

As to your memory problems it is too bad if you cannot remember however if McCain didn't know he was married when he applied to his new marriage license he is too dumb to be president. I don't really think he is that dumb, I think he was just a liar. You will undoubtedly vote for the man who has a new lie every day. Today whose names he gave to the North Vietnamese, Yesterday he lied about veterans organizations supporting him and giving him a 100% rating when they actually gave him a 20%, the day before he lied about supporting the Educational benefits bill for the military when he had fiercely opposed it. He just can't keep his story straight. I wonder if his lie on his marriage application renders his marriage invalid? It is germane to his fitness because with a liar you really have no idea what you are electing. I suspect all you call germane is that he has an R behind his name. posted 07/11/2008 at 22:56:56
I don't care about what aids the McCains use, none of my business. However if the man cannot keep his word, is a rather continuous liar, has the position of the day on any subject, that does concern me. McCain breaking his word abandoning his family for the new girlfriend/wife and lieing about it. That does matter because it speaks to his character. It seems McCain opens his mouth and out come lies. I will not vote for a man who is such a continual liar. Every day a new lie. Today it is about his time as a POW. The man has no honor, that is a major problem. That is important. posted 07/11/2008 at 22:45:29
Ah yes the righty's notion that only the right wing ever served. We lefties who were in Vietnam saw what waste fraud and yes corruption the military can engage in. Now with no bid contracts in Iraq, the electrocution of our troops by KBR, contaminated food and water supplied by Halliburton to the troops, the concentrated efforts of the right wing to deny veterans benefits they deserve, Bushie and McCain's efforts to stop pay raises for the military, the conditions in military hospitals, and the homeless veterans we are certainly concerned about the military. I have watched the righties who have cut their benefits, had the nerve to charge them for meals while in the hospital after being injured, increase copayments for injured personnel, close VA hospitals so that they get less service. I have watched the lefties who have made strong efforts to get an educational benefit for the military, to cut their co-pay for medical care, the president trumpeted his plan for vetoing the pay raise democrats pushed through. Yup, I have seen how the right wing treats the Vets and the active duty and it is deplorable. posted 07/11/2008 at 22:36:51
The man is a liar, one of the few things he has been honest about is his divorce being ALL his fault. His actions are things Voters consider when he is auditioning for a job, his honesty is shown by his actions. ALL of them. How he treats those he "loves" how he takes from Keating, How he lies about the support from veterans organizations, the man has no honesty The man has no honor. posted 07/11/2008 at 17:54:32
He dumped her. Even McCain said it was ALL his fault.

She is supporting him shows she is a nice person. We have the right to sit in judgement because he wants us to hire him for a job he isn't qualified for. We, the American citizens have the right to make judgements about those we are hiring. We have the right to judge their honesty, Mr Straight talk is looking more and more like a corkscrew. Latest lie "The veterans associations give me a 100% rating when they actually give him 20% and give Obama 80%. The man lies, consistantly, one of the few things he does consistantly. posted 07/11/2008 at 17:51:00
Exactly how was his first wife attacked, be specific. As to his second wife's character. Well if she is going to sleep with a married man and apply for a marriage licence with a man who is married to another woman her character speaks for itself.

As to an attack on his kids, sorry that is what McCain did when he abandoned his family to shack up with his hot, new, rich friend. No one here has said anything derogetory about his kide. His kids deserve sympathy, they have a skirt chasing liar for a dad.

You on the other hand have tried to imply his first wife was the adulterer, even McCain in a rare moment of honesty said it was ALL his fault. posted 07/11/2008 at 17:46:13

It means not being a man who chases a hot young thing around the table all night when you are married to another woman. It means keeping your word. It means not lying to your wife while running around with another woman. Perhaps it even means not taking out a marriage license while you are married to another woman. It was evidently well hidden till he blind sided his wife with a divorce. Even the Regans found his behavior disgusting. As part of his self indulgent behavior he not only dumped the wife who didn't have enough money to support his political ambitions he also dumped his child. Other republicans loaning him a house so he could cheat of his wife in privacy. Sure the GOP gives a damn about families. Like Vitter, Gingrich, Foley, Craig McCain cares a lot about his family. Well as long as his wife still has her money he probably still cares about her.
The problem with so many republicans is that marriage is just a talking point, just a method of getting votes not something to be actually worked on, something to be honest about, something to cherish. posted 07/11/2008 at 17:20:00
