Sixty Years After the 1948 War

"Palestinian Arabs living in The West Bank and Gaza Strip are a reality." [Thanks for the clarification! DrEthan725! For a moment, I thought we had all been hallucinating!}
"They are people with the same rights of self-determination and self-government by virtue only of their humanity. Just like the Israelis" .[Israelis? You must mean, the former European Jews that escaped and were given a country by displacing the PAlestinian people that had been living there peacefully for many generations. Up to then, there were no "Israelis" deserving self-rule. Only German, Russian and Polish Jews and while they were living in Europe, they never expressed the need for self-rule. They only became "Patriotic Israelis" when they took over the land of the Palestinians and kicked them out of their villages]
Sorry, Dr Ethan725, but I find your link full of bias.
It is in fact, "the SAME side of the story" we've been fed for 60 years! posted 05/15/2008 at 15:20:46
Thank you, Sandy! Please keep your enlightening posts coming! The American public needs to be educated with a thorough, balanced analysis (and documented data) in order to understand the reality of the situation. Unfortunately, the Zionist lobby has succeeded in packaging a conflict of deep and complex, cultural, religious and ethnic differences to a simplistic, mythical soap opera with a happy ending worthy of a Hollywood production. And the American people, well known for their aversion to "nuance", have been drinking the same Kool-Aid for 60 years. [Who, after all, can resist the cliche of the "humble, outnumbered underdogs" that managed to prevail over the evil and powerful?]
Every time somebody has attempted to present the Palestinian point of view, they have used the handy "anti-Semitic" label to attack and discredit him/her and humiliate him/her to ensure he/she will be silenced for ever. I consider that an insult to our collective intelligence and a serious attack on freedom of expression.
Please, don't let them do that to you. No matter what they say, keep speaking your truth. Something will stick, just as all their lies have stuck over 60 years. THANK YOU FOR EDUCATING US, SANDY! posted 05/15/2008 at 12:36:14

Bush Compares Obama To Nazi Appeasers

"Rahm Emanuel has chimed in as well:
The tradition has always been that when a U.S. President is overseas, partisan politics stops at the water's edge. President Bush has now taken that principle and turned it on its head: for this White House, partisan politics now begins at the water's edge, no matter the seriousness and gravity of the occasion. Does the president have no shame?"
Answer: NO, THE PRESIDENT HAS NO SHAME. IN FACT, HE NEVER HAD ANY SHAME.
Does that answer your question, Rahm? posted 05/15/2008 at 12:55:41

McCain, Obama, and the Hamas Banana Skin

Totally agree! But, according to Bush and other patriotic Neo-cons, if we only care about these minor domestic issues, you know, like poverty, health care, unemployment, education, inequality, inflation, housing, etc. etc.....the TERRORISTS win!!! posted 05/15/2008 at 17:47:48

Republicans Who Just Don't Get It

Acts like this are clear signs of a party looking for self-destruction.

Barack Obama and Israel: More GOP Lies

Well, apparently, YOU TOO need to learn some English grammar and text comprehension before replying. Let me see if I can help you understand the message in this post:
a) Two Republican members of the US Congress have accused Obama of saying certain negative things about Israel that he NEVER said
b) Senator Kerry (very familiar with those cheap GOP tactics) has reacted to those UNFAIR accusations and exposed those two LIARS for what they are
c) Some members of the press have also reacted to their mendacious accusations and requested them to apologize for their SHAMEFUL behaviout toward OBAMA
Conclusion: Cantor and Boehner are cheap, dirty liars that are trying to SMEAR Obama to discredit him and paint him as an anti-Semite.
So, whatever your personal opinion on Obama is (and you are certainly entitled to it) , what you wrote has NOTHING to do with Sen. Kerry's intended message.

WHY, if I may ask, are you so surprised to see a pro-Israel post in this site? Won't you ever grow out of your in paranoia and understand that criticism to Israel's policy towards the Palestinian people (and/or the USA's policy toward Israel) is NOT necessarily anti-Zionist or anti-Israel (or anti-Semitic) but simply an objective and unbiased analysis of the current situation in that part of the world?
Who the hell are you to say that the Palestinians deserve to live behind walls and that all Arab leaders are terrorists?
Why don't you put some of YOUR very corrupt leaders (e.g Sharon, Bibi N. and now Olmert!) behind bars and investigate their crimes, instead of criticizing the Arab leaders?
It's PRECISELY all the blind, hard-lined, intolerant Jews like you that have turned the public opinion against your cause. posted 05/13/2008 at 18:25:35

Bush In Israel: Standing With One Side

Messy: Let me see if I got this right:
Because ten thousand Arabs were killed in Syria last year and the UN didn't intervene, it is OK for Israel to raid Palestinian towns and kill innocent civilians and the UN should look the other way when that happens????
What kind of twisted logic is that?????
Please, spare those of us that are able to think on our own and save your Zionist propaganda for the Jewish blogs!
If you can't be half-way objective and are not willing to take a critical view of what YOUR PEOPLE have done to the Palestinians IN THEIR OWN LAND (and recognize that for sixty years they have been victimized as the European Jews were victimized by Hitler) you should be posting elsewhere. Don't look for support among clear thinking people because, as you can see, the opinions in this blog are overwhelmingly against your "messy logic". posted 05/13/2008 at 11:03:46

Arianna Huffington is Correct: McCain Has Changed

THANK YOU, FRANK!!!! It is truly INSPIRING and REFRESHING to see that some republicans, even those raised in the most extreme evangelical Christian homes (and fed Kool-Aid instead of baby formula), were able to overcome the brain-washing and allow themselves to take a critical view at their party (or former party). I hope more members of this group would allow their own neurons to do the thinking instead of following their "loonie leader du jour" blindly and without questioning the rationale behind his acts. Only when enough of them wake up, will the GOP finally deserve to be called a political party. Until that happens, I'll continue believing it is just a powerful and dangerous "cult". posted 05/12/2008 at 16:29:08

The Procession

EXACTLY RIGHT! How come nobody demands REGIME CHANGE to the Al-Saud family? How come we keep trading with China despite their dubious record with human rights? We don't trade with Cuba because Castros regime limits freedom of expression but Egipt and Turkey are our "buddies" despite the fact that their media have much more government control than Cuba's! I guess I forgot to add HIPOCRITICAL to my adjective list! posted 04/28/2008 at 15:27:57
"America's children are all our children"
What about all the thousands of Iraqi children (and adults) that have lost their lives in this war?
Are they nobody's children?
Do you happen to care for them, even though you don't know them, as much as you care for those American children that went to this war voluntarily and lost their lives?
Do you ever wonder how their families feel about "America's children"?
My heart also cries for Jordan Haerter's family but LET"S NOT FORGET the hundreds of thousands of Iraqi civilians that have lost their lives because WE decided that their country needed REGIME CHANGE and DEMOCRACY.
To use your own words: Only when we fully grasp THIS, some things may change. When we step off our high horse and realize that to them we look as bad as Al -Qaeda looks to us.
It will take several generations to wash out all that blood from our hands.
Until then, we are a petulant, heartless and egocentric nation and we deserve the whole world's scorn for what we have done to Iraq. posted 04/28/2008 at 14:47:04

The Obama Campaign: Consent of, or Contempt for, the People

Exactly!
All Obama did was question the value of those staged, "drive-through" visits that show nothing about the real conditions in the region. Remember McCain's visit to that market in Baghdad with the helicopters hovering over him and the body guards surrounding him. Was that a real taste of everyday life in Iraq?
And what about his beloved Hillary's "dangerous" trip to Tuzla?
Did she REALLY fear for her life as much as the man in the street?
It's too bad that in his quest to support the Cintons, Amb. Wilson has lost his precious insight and perspective! posted 04/16/2008 at 14:57:36

It's Impossible to be Proud of the Way Hillary Has Run This Campaign

Cenk;
Right on, as usul!
Hillary is proving to be much worse than most mainstream Republicans. Her image has sunk so low at this point that she had to resorted to the "Karl Rove Manual of Dirty Politics" in order to remain relevant. And just a few months ago she even had the chutzpah of accusing Obama of doing that to her in her famous "Shame on you, Barack Obama" speech!.
She is the one with no shame!
She resembles Dick Cheney right before Plamegate. posted 04/15/2008 at 16:34:54

Ten Questions for General Petraeus and Ambassador Crocker

EXACTLY RIGHT!
Powell presented the problem, somewhat simplistically, when he mentioned the Pottery Barn rule.
They didn't ask the US to "liberate" them. They never asked for "democracy".
They lived under a brutal dictator (and so do we) but they had electricity and running water.
They could go shopping at the local market or board a bus without worrying about being blown up.
They had functioning schools and hospitals. They could attend their mosques.
WE broke it and now WE have to fix it. [And keeping boots on the ground for 100 years and building permanent bases there won't do it!]
Over 90% of Iraqis say that they were much better off under Saddam.
Do we need further proof that we only brought DISASTER to their country?
And now we expect them to "step up to the plate" and do what we haven't been able to do in 5 years???
Heck of a job, Georgie! posted 04/08/2008 at 11:20:28
