I don't understand why some Hillary supporters are so mad that Obama is ahead. People like him and his message. Hillary has fought a successful campaign, but Obama fought better. GOP Rep. Uses Term 'Tar Baby' In Memo About Obama, Election

Obama does not have a huge white vote problem. He did very well among them in North Carolina and Indiana. The media wants to polarize this election to ensure a McCain presidency. I only really like MSNBC (minus Pat Buchanan) and even they anger me sometimes. They have no real talking point to go on so they use the "white vote" talking point. Another Clinton talking point. You can win the White House w/o WV, if you pick up other states in the south or the west. To make the claim that because you lost in the primary, you will lose in the general is ridiculous. Lesjoan, I feel you on that. Some of us Obama supporters have bashed you Hillary supporters when you were not responsible for how she ran her campaign - you just thought she was better than Obama. Nothing wrong with that; you like who you like. While I have been offended by some of the tactics that Hillary has used, I don't think she is the devil like some have made her out to be. She is after all running for President and I think @ the end of the day we need a dem in the White House. Even if she gets the nomination @ this point, I will still vote for her and said that from the beginning. I believe she will fulfill her plan, just like I believe Obama will fulfill his. So I urge you to rethink your position on how you feel about Obama just like I rethought my position on Hillary awhile ago. We need a democrat in the White House - we cannot have McSame as President. I will feel real bad if that is what ends up happening because of the infighting between Obama and Hillary supporters. posted 05/09/2008 at 21:08:45

Hillary may still end up being on his ticket and us Obama supporters need to think of that as a possibility and not continue to bash Hillary and her supporters. Just like Hillary supporters need to stop threatening us and saying that Obama cannot win. If we continue down this path, say hello to President McCain if either one gets the nomination. posted 05/09/2008 at 21:00:50

Ed Koch: Obama Is A Sure Loser, Clinton Should Fight On

If people vote on the basis of Obama's pastor than we are truly in big trouble. If people vote for McSame, who will in essence take us into a depression and start more wars as well as appoint more judges that will end up overturning Roe v Wade and taking our country in the wrong direction, then we deserve that. All of these people on here saying that they cannot vote for Obama because of his "judgment" are using that as an excuse. It is because he's Black plain and simple. Koch included. Now the new talking point is that he can't get white working class voters, but there are more than just white working class voters. It is a shame that some people will vote against their economic interests because of what his pastor said. posted 05/08/2008 at 13:00:05

You anti-Obama people are making the generalization that Wright preached that way every Sunday. I have heard many of his messages and the majority of them have been on loving your brother and respecting one another. I would venture to say that those clips that have caused so much controversy were very rare. We cannot assum that Obama got his pastor's views by osmosis. Seeing Wright on Bill Moyers gave a lot of people a different impression of the guy and even his speech at the NAACP. It was the Q& A at the National Press Club that brought up Wright's so called radicalness. But this is really about race. Race matters. I see through the rhetoric that people say that this is about judgment and courage and all that. America is in real trouble if they vote against Obama because of his pastor. Four more years of George Bush is enough to make anyone crazy. With 1/3 of the population expected to be on food stamps next year, more troops dying everyday and a potential war with Iran and more people becoming homeless, that's more scary than Reverend Wright. posted 05/08/2008 at 02:08:29

Making that kind of generalization is kind of weak, but your point is well taken. I think that some people are generally worried (most who never would have voted for him to begin with) but to vote against your economic interests or the war in Iraq because of someone's pastor isn't smart either. To somehow say that Obama got his pastor's views through osmosis is ridiculous too. But we'll see how this plays out....if he is elected, then this didn't matter. If he isn't, then it did. posted 05/08/2008 at 01:48:31

If it wasn't Reverend Wright, Koch would cite something else. The underlying thing to his argument is that he is unelectable because of race. Judgment is what people use as a savvy talking point, but if you read between the lines - it is because of his race. posted 05/08/2008 at 01:23:05

The Wright thing is an issue to a lot of people (to people who are looking for a reason not to vote for Obama). The question is how many independents will go to McCain in the fall; they decide elections. But for Koch to make the gamble that so many will vote for more of George Bush because of Reverend Wright does not hold much water. Sure, if Reverend Wright ventures back onto the stage between now and November, he will most likely lose; but with the Obamamania that is going on and hopefully if Clinton helps him out, then it will win.

I find it hard to believe that the country would vote against their economic interests because of some tenuous relationship Obama had with his pastor, but stranger things have happened. We'll see how far we've come in November as a country. If Obama isn't elected because of Reverend Wright, we are in real trouble as a country. Moyers made an eloquent comment on this in his PBS show. If Obama is elected, then that means that most of the country was willing to have faith that Obama would do just what he said.

We'll have to wait and see, but Koch's argument is not very good. posted 05/08/2008 at 01:11:46
