"Saturday Night Live's" Message From Hillary Clinton: "I Have No Ethical Standards" (VIDEO)

First, let me say that I am neither a Hillary nor an Obama nor a McCain fan.

I believe that two specific things turned this into a campaign about race
;
Oprah's open campaigning was the first... As a Black Woman, she "chose sides" and "sided" with the "black" in her over the woman...

The second was the Jeremiah Wright mess...since he is not unlike (in style if nothing else) the majority of black preachers, attacks on him were de facto attacks on ALL black preachers, and black voters saw an opportunity to show support/defend their religious leaders/tradition by circling the wagons and creating a voting block for Obama...

And before you crucify me for these observations, they ARE just observations, NOT judgements...

I reserve judgement for the media and the DNC for putting us in this historic but difficult situation we find ourselves in now... I fear things will get ugly no matter WHO "wins"... posted 05/11/2008 at 19:00:05

How Will Hillary End Her Campaign?

It would be simpler if the rules committee's meeting was scheduled after the last of the primaries...Then I think it's not unreasonable for her to remain in it until the last primary, BUT WITHOUT challenging Florida/Michigan.

As it stands, I think staying until the final MAY primary is not inappropriate, given that she is likely to win WV and possibly Kentucky... It would allow for a graceful exit.

AND I think that she should probably be offered the VP spot (President of the Senate)...Otherwise, Women are going to feel stepped over/screwed (AGAIN), and if they stay home in November in protest, then the Republicans could actually win AND get control of the AG's office/SCOTUS, which would be DEVASTATING for women.

ARE YOU LISTENING GIRLS???...McCain might seem like a better candidate than Obama, BUT HE'S A REPUBLICAN...DON'T DO (or NOT do) anything that could result in a REPUBLICAN potus... posted 05/07/2008 at 12:52:27

Bullies and Pulpits

Chez,
So, all of a sudden, Barak Obama's judgement isn't relevant?...

How could he have been "so close" to Rev.Wright and not understood what his (Wright's) views and attitudes were?

It seems to me that that makes Senator Obama either slickly cynical enough to think he would be given yet another pass, (lest his detractors be thought of as racis), OR he was genuinely not bothered by Wright's attitude, OR he was simply naively unaware of it, OR he's just plain STUPID (not likely)...

My vote is for choice one (cynical), but NONE of them are characteristics I would tolerate in ANYONE purporting to be a leader with "better judgement".

(BTW, I am not a Hillary fan...I was a staunch supporter of JOE BIDEN, who was villified for much less aggregious statements, as well as for the same "crime" of non-attribution that Senator Obama was given a virtual pass on...If BIDEN were still in this, we wouldn't have the mess we do now.)

Even on Iraq/Iran, when given the opportunity to DEMONSTRATE his "better judgement", Senator Obama chose to NOT EVEN SHOW UP for the Biden-Gelb IRAQ Senate resolution vote AND the Kyl-Lieberman IRAN Senate resolution vote.

Bottom line: Senator Obama's "better judgement" does not extend past his tongue...He's all about talking the talk, but REPEATEDLY, when it comes to walking the walk...well...not so much. posted 05/02/2008 at 17:12:56

Regardless of their color, most, if not ALL of the prancing, preachifying, pulpit-pounding, collection plate-passing, slick-suited (toupee'd) speechifyers that lead these arena-sized mega-"churches" (which reflect the size of their egos and not their hearts), are nothing more than narcissistic CHARLATANS who PREY ON people way more than they pray for people, (unless if's for more manna-money)...

That goes for Rev. Wright(Wrong), Ernest Angsley, Jim Bakker, Jimmy Swaggart, etc.

Having lived in Baltimore, MD the site of a large AfricanAmerican community and having witnessed the trappings and political influence of the enormously successful leader of a huge AME Church there, it astounds me that the communities they "serve" still suffer, all the while they try to build an even bigger "church"/worship-hall in the suburbs where their poor members can't get to, but where the money is SO much better...THEY ALL MAKE ME SICK.

That Barak Obama couldn't see thru the likes of Rev. JW, despite how close he was to him, seriously calls into question his JUDGEMENT, (further demonstrated by his no-shows for two key Senate-resolution votes on Iraq and Iran last fall) and any logical-thinking person who's paying attention would have to conclude that Barak Obama TALKS good judgement, but is reluctant to take the risks necessary to actually WALK good judgement (unless his back is publically against the wall).

Oh, for November again, and JOE BIDEN still in the campaign...sigh... posted 04/30/2008 at 15:41:03

Media Jump Ship From Obama To Clinton

I've never been a fan of either one, but have all along believed that Obama had been given a free ride by the media, allowing him to remain a "clean" unknown quantity...Allowed foibles that other candidates were not...

He may still be essentially "clean", but folks are finding out that he's not totally unblemished and, at the end of the day, is a POLITICIAN just like anybody who seriously pursues the presidency would HAVE to be.

THAT'S why the super delegates MUST WAIT until AFTER ALL the primaries to declare, because they are the ONLY equivalent we have to a "buyers' remorse" clause... After all, who's to say that all those who voted for Obama in Iowa still feel the same way about him now??? (and likewise Clinton supporters.)

The MOST IMPORTANT THING THE DNC MUST DO NOW is to ensure that EVERYBODY repeats the mantra that "whoever is the Democaratic nominee, it is IMPERATIVE THAT THE REPUBLICANS DO NOT GET CONTROL OF THE JUSTICE DEPARTMENT...PERIOD -- even if they think they might "like" John McCain better...HE IS A REPUBLICAN.

The Attorney General's Offiice and SCOTUS CANNOT GO REPUBLICAN/CONSERVATIVE UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, even if it means a Democratic POTUS you don't like...

Harry Reid, Nancy Pelosi, Howard Dean May Intervene In Dem Primary

I am a Democrat not enthralled with EITHER candidate... That said, it seems to me that the purpose of the Super Delegates in one that should demand that they WAIT until AFTER ALL the primaries before making their endorsements.

This would allow them to know all that there is available to know about each candidate, including information that may have come out AFTER their state's primary/caucus...information that may, in fact, cause some/many of those voters to wish they had voted other than the way they did... Inotherwords, the Super Delegates can/should act as the mitigating "buyers' remorse" clause.

And, of course, there is the fact of using what we can assume may be more "insider knowledge" of the candidates as well as what we HOPE is more multi-level critical thinking than much of the popular electorate often does relative to ELECTABILITY, which is, after all THE WHOLE POINT.

What Howard and Nancy and Harry should do is to mandate that EVERY public Democrat repeat the mantra that reminds the public that even tho' they may like McCain better than the Dem that wins the nomination that they must look past McCAIN, because HE IS A REPUBLICAN, and that means a REPUBLICAN AG and CONSERVATIVE SCOTUS...THAT IS THE BOTTOM LINE THAT MUST BE PROTECTED AGAINST AT ALL COSTS. posted 04/24/2008 at 14:50:35

White Men

The "white men" vote issue is a real one for the Democrats, one that is VERY concerning...

Because too many of them won't vote for a black guy, and too many of them won't vote for a woman...

Add to that the fact that the "white guy" running is also a war hero... He may be a good candidate for those who can only think linearly, BUT he also brings along with him the baggage of being a Republican, meaning a republican AG and SCOTUS nominations..dire for women especially...
But then again if the"white guys" wouldn't vote for a woman, then women's issues won't matter to them anyway. posted 04/21/2008 at 13:44:46

I'm neither a Clinton NOR an Obama supporter, but I kept wishing that Obama, especially when the flag-pin thing came up, would have stopped everyone in their tracks and said point-blank that if the moderators were going to stay on the nonsense, that "we might as well all go home and spend some time with our families, because this is a wast of everbody's time".

Someone needs to stop pussy-footing around with the media and call them on their laziness and lack of public service. posted 04/17/2008 at 12:43:45
I am an undecided who waivered between disappointment and being outright pissed off last night...disappointed because I'd expected that Charlie Gibson would show that he is a serious journalist and not do what EVERY OTHER DEBATE has done: Start out with the inane, already-covered-to-death BS (I wanted to throw something at the TV when the stupid flag-pin thing came up again...and then, when they finally get around to important, substantive issues, make those the ones where they ask for 1-minute answers! (At least we DID seem to get two direct and clear answers on Iraq troop withdrawl, with Obama giving the best complete answer/explanation.)

I propose ONE MORE 2-hr. DEBATE between the two, with Howard Dean and the DNC requiring (demanding) that the first 75%-80% of the debate include specific questions to both candidates... questions on 1) The Housing/Mortgage crisis and what they would propose to fix it...2) Reducing our demand on oil, and alternative fuel production (which also gets into agriculture/subsidies)...3) Other environmental issues, like emission controls, etc...4) Taxes...5) Education...6) Funding entitlements programs, esp. Social Security....15 minutes on each of those would = 90 minutes.

THEN, and only then, if there's time, go into any residual "personal" issues.

DNC Picketed Over Florida, Michigan Resolution

Howard Dean couldn't fix a crooked fight.

It was HIM and the DNC that allowed last year's debates to be as biased as they were, and HIS dictum regarding Fla. and Michigan that has things screwed up now... What he COULD have said was that they could hold their primaries whenever they wanted to, BUT that the delegate count would not be publicized until their ORIGINAL (or a more agreeable) primary date...The media would just have to rely on exit polls.

Thomas Frank On Obama: Not That Controversial

I don't think it's the "bitter" part that's the problem, but the comments after that, regarding the lifestyle choices that those folks have made, that rankles... BUT, if coming from the mouth of Barak Obama, it is again really all much ado about nothing, then Joe Biden's true and not un-flattering comments about Barak Obama back at the beginning of this campaign should ALSO have been much ado about nothing...

Unfortunately, Senator Biden was "mortally" criticized/villified for TWO situations which ironically were almost EXACTLY paralleled by Barak Obama... "plagerism" aka non-attribution in a speech, and now this characterization (and his "typical white person" comment) of rural america... Only difference -- AND IT'S A HUGE ONE -- is that Senator ,Obama is being allowed to get away with them, where Senator Biden was not.

So, it would appear (understandably, considering their schedules) that ALL of the candidates have occasional verbal lapses, some more serious than others... Problem is, we now have the LESS QUALIFIED Democratic candidates whose "lapses" suggest much more serious underlying attitudes...WHICH IS WHY McCAIN IS LOOKING SO GOOD TO SO MANY PEOPLE.

As a small business owner (retail Rx optical boutique) located about 40 miles from DC and within the quad-state area of MD,PA,VA,WV,.. Our business community relies on tourists/day-trippers as well as locals. Our client base is primarily middle-class, many of whom are stretching to buy from us because of the uniqueness of our frames, the quality of our lenses, the level of personal service we give...

Think Bloomingdales or maybe Nordstroms.

Since December I (and others in our business community) have seen a dramatic downturn in business compared to the same period a year ago...This month, (never a great one - taxes on the brain), April thus far is exactly reflecting what this thread says...
I have had only about 5 sales so far this month, but 4 out of the 5 were existing clients (the fifth was a referral), 4 out of the 5 came from at least 40 miles away and/or out of state (gas $ not an issue), AND 4 out of the 5 spent $1,000 or significantly more (altho' they didn't pay in full up front as they usually do , instead spreading it over two billing cycles)... but the more "average" client is interested but not ready to spend yet.

Another trend I have noticed is that real estate agents USED to be the buyers of my more unique/expensive collections... They are much more scarce now, another fall-out of the housing crisis. posted 04/14/2008 at 12:28:02
If that's a downturn, there could be three reasons for it, only two of which make sense:

One: They also have a house to SELL, and with prices down, it doesn't make sense if they don't HAVE to move..

TWO: They are having job/salary insecurities/shortfalls and simply can't afford to buy a house without creative/predatory lending packages...

THREE: They have no house to sell and are income-secure, but are TOO DENSE to realize that IT'S A BUYERS' MARKET right now...

What the gov't SHOULD do to help those who legitimately find themselves in a bind right now, whether trying to re-finance a normal ARM, OR trying to get a home equity loan to do improvements/necessary repairs, OR trying to sell their home because they HAVE to move, is in the area of APPRAISALS / COMPS.

For example, appraisals for owner-occupied properties purchased with a normal loan instrument between, say 2002 and 2006 and being refinanced/sold now, could be done only determine if anything had happened to the property that would NATURALLY cause a decrease in its original purchase price/value, or if improvements were made that would increase it's original value.

This would be a NO COST / NO BAIL-OUT way of helping to stabilize a critical situation and restore a more natural balance in what is the heart of the American economy, and homeowners who are NOT part of the problem WOULD NOT BECOME VICTIMS OF IT. posted 04/14/2008 at 11:47:03

First, If you knew ANYTHING about anything, you would know that Joe Biden worked in the civil rights movement BEFORE his Senate career began at age 29 (your IQ), and that Barak Obama himself dismissed any suggestion that Senator Biden was racist as clearly not true and unfounded (maybe you missed the debate while you were watching a "pope of the racists" Rev. Wright diatribe)...

Second, what Senator Biden did TWENTY YEARS AGO was to include a quote from someone he frequently quoted without attributing it to that person, THE EXACT SAME THING THAT BARAK OBAMA DID IN HIS SPEECH THIS SPRING, lifting almost verbatim the words of the governor of Massachusettes (his name escapes me at the moment), without attribution...it got about 5 hours mention in the media and was then dismissed as much ado about nothing.

SO, unless you believe in a double standard that punishes the white guy for EXACTLY THE SAME "CRIME" that the black guy is allowed to get away with, the next time you say the word "racist", just LOOK IN THE MIRROR...

Petraeus Ready To Talk To Iran Again

Unfortunately the media and all you kool-aid hounds out there have managed to give us the two WEAKEST candidates from among those we started out with with...

While Senator Obama TALKS the talk on certain positions, his ACTIONS do NOT necessarily support them...He subtly triangulates (HRC is obvious about it) and people fall for it:

He chose NOT TO EVEN SHOW UP for the Kyl-Lieberman IRAN Senate resolution vote back in September (but in criticizing HRC for HER "yes" vote, he cynically gave/allowed the impression that he had voted "no", when in fact he avoided taking an on-the-record stand either way...can't be wrong that way, I guess).

That same day, he took the same cowardly approach on the BIDEN-Gelb IRAQ Senate resolution vote and DIDN'T EVEN SHOW UP.. Yet ironically, if he gets elected, that resolution will be sitting on his desk awaiting his signature as POTUS... I have to wonder how he will handle ACTUALLY having to take an on-the-record stand, which is what he will HAVE to do as POTUS on difficult and controversial issues...
I have serious questions/doubts about him.

I hope I am wrong, but I fear we may wake up on February 2nd next year (or 2010) with a big fat case of buyers' remorse and a collective wish we were Bill Murray and could have a do-over...

The media began with the pro-Obama double standard early on... It was especially specious against Senator Biden (the "plagerist" if you believe the media, yet Obama, no such label for doing the EXACT same thing)

Clinton is hammered because she is simply more obvious, while Obama is more surreptitious in his calculating, which is successful since most of the media and the public is only working on half their brains... If you need proof, just look at the people who say that if their Dem isn't the nominee they'll vote for McCain... OBLIVIOUS to the fact that voting for McCain means A REPUBLICAN ADMINISTRATION, including Attorney General and SCOTUS nominees.

Obama Fails To Assuage White Indiana Voters With Speech On Race

I don't care if Barak Obama is white, black, all of the above or none of the above, other than his association with a racist like Jeremiah Wright (Wrong)...

But more importantly, would SOMEONE, ANYONE please demand of him (OR answer me) how he can criticize another person's vote (Hillary's) when HE COULD BUT DIDN'T SHOW UP FOR THE VOTE AT ALL?... I'm referring to the Kyl-Lieberman IRAN Senate resolution vote last September... He undoubtedly realizes that by criticizing HER vote, people will assume that HE voted the other way and the media will let him get away with it...(Now THAT'S a cynical politician, if ever I saw one!)

AND THEN ask him why he failed to also show up for the Biden-Gelb IRAQ Senate resolution (the same day), which passed with a significant bi-partisan majority and presented a means of "extricating the bus from the ditch" that Obama doesn't miss an opportunity to say he didn't drive into that ditch"?...I guess NOT VOTING is HIS way of guaranteeing that he's not WRONG!

(And FYI: instead of voting on those two important issues he was speechifying to members of the Congressional Black Caucus about being people of action and not just words...Talk about irony.... Talk about HYPOCRACY.

I'll vote for Obama if I have to, but until he is called on to answer for these two glaring ommissions in his responsibility as a sitting Senator with supposedly "better judgement", I cannot support him. posted 04/01/2008 at 15:22:13

Oil Chiefs Say High Prices Not Our Fault

If at all, they should only get tax credits based on the dollar amount (or percentage of income) they spend on research and active pursuit of alternative fuel sources, like SUGAR BEETS, and perhaps for joint ventures with the auto industry toward increasing the effeciency of cars... Even without tax credits, all R&D expenditures would result in reduced expenses by virtue of the fact that it would reduce the net income and therefore the taxes, just as with any other business expense.

On a related note, Americans, and especially institutions, could make a pledge to NOT INVEST in any corporation whose senior executives' income packages exceed a certain percentage of the corporation's income or other reasonable benchmark.

And here's another idea for corporations who want to be forward-thinking and beneficial to the country (and which could spur investments): Tie the top executives' income to the money spent on R&D or programs that benefit the country, either financially or environmentally. posted 04/02/2008 at 07:58:58

The media gives him a free pass on virtually all of his short-falls, whether mis-steps or calculated actiions, like:
>Not showing up for the Kyl-Lieberman IRAN Senate resolution vote that he criticizes Hillary about. (Passively allowing the assumption that HE voted the other way.)

Excellent post JR.

I wish I could jump on Obama's bandwagon, but I am troubled by a couple of facts that I have yet to see/hear addressed, that seem to belie Senator Obama's claim of "better judgement", or at least his willingness to ACT on it. They are:

>Senator Obama's last-minute, finger-to-the-wind, almost surruptitous eleventh hour vote for the Iraq funding bill that Senator Biden ensured had funds allocated/added for MRAPs...

> Senator Obama's TWO SIGNIFICANT NO-SHOWS for TWO SIGNIFICANT SENATE RESOLUTION votes back in September:
The Biden-Gelb IRAQ Senate resolution, which which passed with a significant bi-partisan majority ... AND the Kyl-Lieberman IRAN Senate resolution, which Hillary Clinton voted for -- a vote that Obama criticized her for, YET HE HIMSELF DIDN'T EVEN SHOW UP FOR IT... (Hard to be wrong if you don't vote, I guess.)
What I find disturbing is his cynicism that the media would give him a pass on the no-show, AND that by criticizing his opponent's unpopular vote, it would be assumed that he had voted the opposite way... It's nothing less than a form of passive triangulation, and he's getting away with it.

I'll vote for Obama if I have to, but I'd sure like to be as excited about it as I was about the prospect of JOE BIDEN as POTUS. posted 04/01/2008 at 14:54:59

Op-Ed: Obama Was The First To Play Race Card

That's the modus operandi of many of the evangelical-type leaders, be they "religious" leaders or political leaders.

They imploy rhetorical techniques/tactics of speech cadence and volume that are and have been used throughout history to foment a kind of blind fervor... (Hitler used them to get the German population to go along with his horrible agenda .)

Most evangelical preachers learn them in classes/seminars and are encouraged to make use of them because of their effectiveness (not to say that they all have non-spiritual motives, but I'd bet that the biggest of them are in it for the POWER the PRESTIGE, and the $$$$$)...

Those techniques and the cynical knowledge that people are gullible is what fills all those collection plates in all those arena-sized mega-"churches" (and pays for the preacher's expensive haircuts (or toupees!), expensive suits, expensive cars, expensive homes, expensive whores, sycophantic hangers-on, and, of course, the overhead on those huge buildings...If you doubt it, you obviously haven't been paying attention over the past 20 years or so.)

Ill vote Democratic, but unfortunately, Obama's poor judgement relative to Rev.Wright and his church, along with his failure to show up for some significant foreign policy votes, like the Kyl-Lieberman IRAN resolution vote that he's chastised HRC about (that's right, HE DIDN'T EVEN SHOW UP FOR IT), gives me pause... Here's a perfect analogy supporting WHY what you say makes common sense, and to suggest otherwise is pretty idiotic (sorry Senator Dodd...):

In the last football season, does anybody out there think that they should have truncated the season for the conference the Patriots play in, given how strong and in front the they were, and the cachet of a potential undefeated season?... Of course not.

And in ANY sport league, would anyone ever consider cutting the season short, even if it seemed clear who would win the final prize?... After all, the quarterback could break a thumb...the runningback could pull a hamstring, the pitcher could throw his shoulder, etc...

No, ladies and gentlemen... The regular season doesn't end until June 3rd, so have patience, pay attention, and wait for the fat lady to sing (or dance, as seems to be the jeu de jour this year)! posted 03/30/2008 at 19:09:46
Maybe, maybe not, Impeachthechimp... But they did choose the nominees way back last spring/summer, when they focused all of the debates on Hillary and Obama, and to a lesser extent, Edwards, to the almost TOTAL EXCLUSION of the more qualified candidates like Joe BIDEN and Chris Dodd, etc.

The media WANTED these two because they provide such easy story lines that wouldn't require very talented or intelligent personalities to cover them...And the DNC/Howard Dean (talk about losers!) was in love with the idea of making racial/gender history... Consedquently, the average American was virtually shielded from being aware of anyone besides HillBamWards, and those of us who WERE really paying attention had no recourse... It wasn't until recently that it occurred to me that the DNC had the power to put pressure on the media to be more even-handed, especially during the debates, but failed to do so... Add that to the Michigan/Florida fiascos and what we have is the Democratic party screwing up royally and jeopardizing their/our chances AGAIN...

Maybe we DO need a third party, and to distinguish it from the others it could be called the COMPETENT Party... no wait, the Repubics are actually pretty competent, they're just competent JERKS... I'd venture to say that there are just as many who believe, as I do, that it is doing a disservice to the citizens of PA, KY, NC, WV, IN, and the other states that haven't had their say yet... And besides, Barak Obama is still a relatively unknown quantity...better that as many "surprises" surface in the next few months, rather than during a general (if he actually clinches it).

Between June 3rd and June 10th or 15th, the super delegates from the early primary states should do what they can to get an idea of how those voters feel NOW, and, barring any precluding occurance or information suggesting otherwise, follow that lead.

But whichever of them ultimately gets the nomination, they'd better make damned sure that they choose a running mate who is a universally respected person who can make those unhappy with the prez slot happy enough to NOT vote for McCain or Nader OR totally stay home out of protest.

Bush Readies Mortgage Aid Plan

Oh, so they're finally going to do something for New Orleans??? posted 03/29/2008 at 13:12:20
Here's what didn't fit in 250 words:

Something must also be done for those who had no choice but to buy/sell their homes at the height of the housing bubble and now find, if they have to relocate and therefore sell, or if they go to refinance or get a home equity loan to do repairs/improvements, that they can't because, through no fault of their own, their home now doesn't appraise for as much as it did then...

To alleviate this inequity, the government should instruct banks that if a home's last appraisal was within the past five years, the requirement for a new appraisal can either be waived, OR, that the appraisal simply be used to determine that nothing has happened to the property itself to cause a decline in it's value...(But if improvements have been made to increase its value, that the new appraisal reflect those improvements/increase.).

Beyond these suggestions, the governments housing/banking resources would be put to better and more appropriate use in getting the housing situation in New Orleans on track. posted 03/29/2008 at 13:09:46

Not all buyers caught in this mess did anything wrong, but to bail out the offending buyers/lenders who caused this crisis sends a signal that people can make bad choices and not have to take responsibility for them... IT SETS A DANGEROUS PRECEDENT that the rest of us will (again) end up paying for.

>First, banks found to have made bad/predetory loans should be fined, and any and all rates they are charging for other services be frozen, to protect their other customers...AND...

>Those who clearly should never have purchased the property they did (and investors) should simply be foreclosed on, with the appropriate "ding" on their credit scores.... BUT...

>For jeopardized homeowners, new mortgage payments could be calculated based on the prevailing standard interest rate at the time they got their loan (or the current rate)... If it's the same or less than what they've been paying ON TIME, OK...Otherwise...

>Allow homeowners to walk away from their properties, perhaps with enough money to cover one or two months rent + security deposit and reasonable moving expenses. The homes could be put in a national sales pool, like FSBO, with an asking price that matches the original mortgage amount... A network of brokers/agents (the banks'?) would handle showings, etc. for a modest set fee, saving prospective buyers a sellers' commission.
**************************************************************
These suggestions would, I think, help stop the collapse of property values while providing opportunities for new buyers AND discouraging further home-financingabuses. posted 03/29/2008 at 12:58:27

Howard Dean was a terrible choice to run the DNC... I knew when he was named, and he's proving it now.

How many ways did he screw up?:

He didn't hold the media's feet to the fire about their biased handling of the debates, directing, even in the earliest ones, significantly more questions and devoting significantly more air/face time to Hillary and Obama (and Edwards), to the virtual exclusion of the MOST QUALIFIED candidates like Joe BIDEN and Chris Dodd, and the most different-thinking" like Dennis Kuchinich... The media controlled this primary and its results, and he and the DNC let it.

He could have told Michigan/Florida that they could hold their primaries any time they wanted, BUT that their votes would not be RELEASED/COUNTED (in the national totals) until their original date. Well, maybe for the obvious reason that things can CHANGE with one candidate or another in such a way that perhaps could cause the earlier primary voters to have buyers' remorse... Also, in this campaign season especially, where all of the candidates are sitting Senators, their colleagues who are super-delegates also know how they are behind closed doors...when the press isn't there...the REAL deal... Second, As we are finding out, there is a lot about Senator Obama especially that WE DON'T KNOW...

And in general, events can transpire, incidents can occur between now and the final primaries that could make the difference in what choices we might make.

I can't help but think that many people who have already voted in their primaries may be having second thoughts about their choices... Their Super Delegates can, IF THEY TAKE THE TIME TO POLL THEIR CONSTITUENTS, help to reflect their CURRENT feelings/preferences, which may include subsequent changes of heart.

If this thing becomes brokered BEFORE June 5th, then I don't see the point in most of our electoral system, because what the media doesn't force with their coverage (or lack of it, as with candidates like Joe Biden and Chris Dodd), and their free passes to Obama), the 'wigs of the party can make happen in a back room...

SOMETHING'S GOTTA CHANGE, because we just keep looking like a bunch of idiots to the rest of the world. posted 03/26/2008 at 15:43:48

Parker Posey's Sitcom Canceled After Just Two Airings

I never saw the show, but I would be disinclined to watch it if for no othe reason than Lauren Ambrose.... When she was on Six Feet Under the fact that she seemed to have only ONE facial expression annoyed the crap out of me... She was mighty lucky to have gotten such steady work for those years, because she cure can't act. posted 03/27/2008 at 17:31:04

While it was a reasonable question to ask, and the answer IS our business,
IT WAS NOT REASONABLE TO ASK IT OF CHELSEA..

I wonder if his parents are embarassed that he's their kid and that he is such a lout...maybe someone could ask them, IN FRONT OF A CROWD, if they think his attempt to embarass Chelsea is an embarassment to THEM and makes them look like bad parents. posted 03/26/2008 at 15:20:49

Got Dolt?

Steven,

I just finished a post with some fulleome "f" alliterations...aren't they FUN?!?

Here's mine, with a plethora of "p's" for good measure:

Wrong Rev. Wright is a prancing, plate-passing, pulpit-pounding preachifyer, that I cannot understand Barak Obama sitting still for for 20 years.

He uses the time-honored speech cadence technique (sometimes employed by Senator Obama also, btw), which foments a fervor within the flock, that when reaching a final fevered pitch can fool folks into feeling and believing almost anything, even things they would not otherwise fathom... And it is my fear that all of the fawning over Senator Obama by the media early in this campaign has figured into his feeling that he can be false or less than factual* , and thereby fake out and fool even his most faithful followers, or forgiven if found out.

* He has repeatedly called HRC out on her Iran Senate Resolution vote, which would suggest that he had voted the opposite (correct) way, WHEN IN FACT HE DID NOT SHOW UP TO VOTE ON IT AT ALL.

Fomented Fervor Fans The Flames, but Forgets The Facts.

Of course, our other choices are HRC, Queen of Hyperbole, and McCain the Delusional.

SNAFU (Situation Now All F*cked Up)

Curb Your Enthusiasm Meets Barack Obama

The last three lines of my previous post were cut off:

"Consequently I Fear that Barak Obama may Fake Out his Faithful...and Fool us all...

But then our other choices are HRC, the Queen of Hyperbole, and McCain the Delusional"

Some Choice...NOT. posted 03/25/2008 at 16:27:16
Great story.

Here's a less happy anecdote:

I was watching a movie the other nite from 1991... In one scene, a young black man who was being interviewed suddenly went off about Whites putting AIDs in the drinking water in poor black neighborhoods to kill them off...If I hadn't heard Rev. Wright (Wrong) tirade, I would have said that the writer/director had one ugly and hateful imagination...

Which gets back to the original reason forSen.Obama's speech. I was pleased to see that he was more restrained ;than usual in his delivery, refraining from invoking that preachifying style that most of us who are not of evangelical persuasions find so ridiculous, to the point of offensive...

Offensive because it employs a cadenced speech pattern that is used to foment fervor, and was the rhetorical technique used by Hitler to dupe the German people into following his horrific agenda... Because, when a high fevered pitch is going strong, people are liable to buy into anything...even the idea that millions of Jews should be (or weren't being) exterminated, or that whites brought AIDS to the black communities to eradicate them....
(Nevermind that AIDS originated in AFRICA and HAITI among black populations...)
