This site is not a joke, it is very serious. Very serious about helping shut down real democracy, and to preserve the big lie that Democrats are really for the people.

Re visiting Watergate is a worthy endeavor.

The break in occurred because Nixon Republicans were very worried that the Democrats were in possession of evidence (held at the Watergate office) about the assassination of JFK.
The involvement of the Dulles brothers, George HW Bush, and the truth that Nixon was aware and supportive of this crime against our nation, was why the break in was necessary.

Think about the one part of the Watergate story that makes no sense. Why do such a high risk crime?

To get a glimpse of some top secret Democratic economic stimulus plan?
To see if Democrats were in favor of education, small business loans, or medical care?
To see if they would spend more on lawn signs, lapel buttons or TV ads?

No, risking everything for information of such little value makes no sense.

The real Watergate story is about why the Republicans felt that such a high risk caper was worth it.

The JFK wound was still open and painful back then, and the Nixon gang was worried that Democrats had the proof of their involvement in it. Keeping that secret was well worth the risk, and it appears to have paid off. The truth does not change even though professional liars work to subvert it.

Once again there are very serious allegations from numerous credible sources that vote rigging, tampering, exclusion of voters from eligibility lists and so on has occurred. This to the detriment of Obama and for the benefit of HRC.

Does this occur to put HRC in the lead? Does it occur just to keep the race close so we all keep watching it, instead of focusing on real policy issues playing out today?
Why is Huffington Post ignoring this voter fraud angle today?

Clinton Slams Democratic Activists At Private Fundraiser

I am pleased to see Hillary exposed for her contempt for Democracy and groups which try to preserve it.

One big lie is that MoveOn is a genuine progressive organization. It is not.

The first time that Nancy Pelosi lead a charge to betray her base and fund the murder spree in Iraq, Barbara Lee offered a simple amendment to fully fund the withdrawal of troops too.

Over 10 different very legitimate groups (see the link) publicly supported the Lee Amendment.

Sadly, MoveOn screwed its membership and refused to support the Lee amendment.
Then they went so far as to deny a vote by its membership to determine if they in fact did support it.

The reason they did this according to Eli Pariser at MoveOn was that they already knew the membership would support the Lee Amendment. The MoveOn leadership was supporting the Pelosi funding and was opposed to the pacifist Lee amendment.

MoveOn is just one more front group fooling the progressive movement in its bid to end the war. posted 04/18/2008 at 22:04:21
Why did over 10 different legitimate progressive groups support the Lee amendment that would have fully funded the withdrawal of troops from Iraq while MoveOn did NOT.

When Pelosi lead the Democrats to fund the war, MoveOn would NOT allow a democratic vote among its members to decide whether they should support the Pelosi funding or the Lee amendment.

Eli Pariser of MoveOn admitted that if they did hold a vote that the membership would have supported Lee and NOT Pelosi. This is the reason why MoveOn did not allow the vote.

Read about it if you are interested.

MoveOn is not a progressive organization. It does a very good job of convincing people that it is.

http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/?q=node/20411

This link shows how MoveOn worked with the right wing element of the Democratic party to oppose the wise Barbara Lee amendment that would have provided full funding to bring the troops home INSTEAD of the Nancy Pelosi plan to fund the war.

Numerous genuine progressive groups supported Barbara Lee.

MoveOn REFUSED to allow its membership to vote on the Lee vs. Pelosi choice.

The reason according to Eli Pariser (from MoveOn) was that he KNEW that his membership would oppose the Pelosi option of funding the war and support the Lee amendment.

People can agree or disagree about funding the murder spree in Iraq, but when hawks pretend to be progressives they need to be called on it.

MoveOn is not a progressive organization dedicated to peace.

ABC Debate: High Ratings, Critics Give Broadcast Poor Reviews

Beating the crap out of ABC makes sense, but it is only the tip of the iceberg. CNN, FOX, CBS are all enemies of the truth.

The real reason we all were force fed a load of shit last night was that Republicans AND Democrats rejected the idea of relevant fair questions from the League of Women Voters, who used to run the debates for all of the right reasons.

This is what the impartial honest League of Women Voters said about it.

"The League of Women Voters is withdrawing sponsorship of the presidential debates ... because the demands of the two campaign organizations would perpetrate a fraud on the American voter. It has become clear to us that the candidates' organizations aim to add debates to their list of campaign-trail charades devoid of substance, spontaneity and answers to tough questions. The League has no intention of becoming an accessory to the hoodwinking of the American public."

To focus all of the rage exclusively on ABC misses the larger point. The dumbing down of American politics takes two parties, half a dozen networks and millions of people who are not interested in pursuing the truth.

Jewish Liberals Launch Counterweight to AIPAC

This would be fantastic news for Israel, for us and for the entire mid-east if it was really happening.

There is a very large segment of Israeli society that would support a progressive lobby.
But when we live in the age of No Child Left Behind, The Clear Skies Initiative, Support The Troops, and Progress in Iraq. We need to look at every nice sounding plan very closely. Ignore the tittle and look at the truth behind the slogan.

From what I know so far, there are several Clinton cronies right in the middle of this thing. That makes me skeptical, but I still want this thing to be for real.

Maybe rather than just asking us to support this new PAC, you could first investigate whether or not it is legit. posted 04/17/2008 at 13:38:33

The ABC Debate: A Shameful Night for the U.S. Media

Focusing on trivialities and gossipy crap could be preferable to dealing with reality for both HRC and Barrack Obama.

Do they really wish to discuss the theft of Iraq's oil being the main reason we won't leave Iraq? No.

Do they really wish to discuss the fact that Bushco is very likely to invade Iran before the election? No.

Do they really wish to explain why they are against impeachment? No.

Do they really wish to talk about over 2 million refugees from Iraq creating a crisis in Jordan, Syria and other neighbors in the region? No.

Do they really wish to talk about global warming? Apparently not, given the wishy washy answers they gave last night.

Yes ABC is a joke, but their questions were very much in line with the coverage provided by HuffingtonPost over the past few months. Trivialities, no meat.

Seems like no one wants to deal with the tough issues. posted 04/17/2008 at 13:02:12

This is the topic that makes Barrack Obama cringe and struggle.

It does this because he knows that Bush is a criminal and impeachment is the right course. But his handlers, and the power base he answers to will not allow it. Obama is not working for us the people, he is doing his best to get us to vote for him, while he does the bidding of Democratic party bosses.

He said this on impeachment in this interview.
"I often get questions about impeachment at town hall meetings and I've said that is not something I think would be fruitful to pursue because I think that impeachment is something that should be reserved for exceptional circumstances."

Every sane person who can read knows that many many laws have been broken by the Bush administration. Obama knows it too. He is not stupid, just unwilling to do the right thing. He will sacrifice principals for power. He is doing it now, he did it every time he voted to fund the war he opposed. They only control 1/4 of the population because they are a puppet government of the US. They do not reflect the will of the Iraqi people, but rather that of the occupiers.

This is also why their military quits in so many fights.
Not because they are cowardly or inept, as our lying mass media tell us. But because they don't want to kill their own countrymen in battles that benefit some obscure US objective.

US objectives like stealing their oil.

Obama is far and away the best of the three candidates left in the race. But he will not end the war because his corporate backers won't allow it.

We do not live in a democracy. This election is orchestrated to sell us on the idea that we do.

Clinton/Obama vs. McCain/Rice

Either way, the crime in Iraq will continue.

Only massive peaceful street protests and huge organized consumer boycotts will solve this thing. And right now 50% of our population has been disenfranchised by shitty educations, shitty jobs and TV that keeps them stupid. Another 40% naively cling to the myth that they can just vote their way out of this mess. Maybe 10% see the ugly truth that corporate interests in both parties have killed democracy, and that we will need to fight to get it back. posted 03/29/2008 at 15:31:50

Charges Dropped Against Marine In Haditha Case

There are good soldiers and bad ones, no different than teachers, mail carriers or doctors.

The question is what does our military system create? Good ones or bad ones?

Bush: Iraq Violence A Necessary Part Of Development

It hurts to look at the picture of this kid. It hurts more to realize that there are millions like him because of our quest to liberate their oil.

Huffpo should continue to show photos like this with all future stories on the occupation.

If we see another photo of this kid when he is 20 years old, when he has become one of those angry jihadist terrorist evil doers who hates democracy, hates freedom blah blah blah. What right will we have to judge him? posted 03/28/2008 at 13:18:48

Rice: Race Still Issue Because Of U.S. "Birth Defect"

Africans and Europeans founded the country together.

Were there not people here for thousands of years already?

People who lived in harmony with their environment, had a beautiful culture, a religion based on respect for nature, and family values.

I guess Native Americans are not on the radar for Condi, or anyone else here (apologies if I missed any other comments raising the Native American point) which just goes to show how easy it is to offend people.

Maybe we would do well to think of the Iraqi violence between factions we barely understand, in terms of our own experience. People can hold on to pain and anger for many generations.

Rice, Obama and others are talking about stuff that goes back hundreds of years, yet it is still very important.

To think it was only 60 years ago that we assassinated the respected leader of Iran, and imposed a brutal ruthless dictator (the Shah) to help us loot their resources and control their people.

As a nation, our narcissistic tendencies and our staggering inability to show empathy or compassion to the nations we have plundered, we are without equal.

All of this talk on race and the past is important. We need to look at Central America, Vietnam and the middle east through the lens of history. We need to face up to our many past crimes and change the way we "do business" today and tomorrow. posted 03/28/2008 at 13:00:16

How Would Watergate Be Reported Today?

This is a great article, thanks Art Brodsky.

There is another layer to the Watergate onion that is rarely looked at because we are STILL too uncomfortable talking about it.

The ties between Nixon, the Bush crime family and the assassinations of both Kennedy brothers.

There is much evidence that the break in happened because Nixon believed that Democrats had some proof of this at their Watergate office.

Funny how no one ever seems to look into the the question of why the break in occurred in the first place. Looking for Democratic election strategies in the top secret Democratic party play book? Please. Very little value compared to the risk involved.

Loads of bullshit and extreme conspiracy stuff out there on the Kennedy assassinations makes it a bit of a walk in the swamp. But if you use your logic and dig around with google, you might be amazed at the mountains of evidence linking Bush and others to it all. Watergate was very likely part of this web of lies. posted 03/29/2008 at 19:43:13

Canseco: My Motive Is To "Attack Major League Baseball"

Baseball is a beautiful game played by kids all over the world.

Dads and sons, brothers, old friends and school buddies all play together. This is baseball.

The MLB is a corporate entity which has proven time and time again that it does not care about its players or its fans. It cares about MONEY.

I hope the bitter Cansenco takes more shots at the MLB because they deserve it.

I hope families of young men and teenagers (who have died due to steroid use) start to bring massive law suits against the MLB for their complicity. posted 03/28/2008 at 13:08:40

Players, Not Cheerleaders

I second the comment of miseducated.

YRM do you seriously believe that Hillary Clinton is not part of the vast elitist cabal that created this war? Her harsh language on Iran, along with her support for the Kyle Lieberman amendment, her votes to fund the Iraq war, her defense industry backers and donors, all show that she is clearly not the right choice for those of us who want the war to end.

Do you seriously believe that she is a better option for pacifists than Obama?

Obama is only the least bloody of the three people still in the mix to be our next President.

The tone of this post is correct. We all need to put pressure on Obama while we can. posted 03/26/2008 at 13:36:26

Samantha Power Unapologetic About Iraq Remarks, Hints At Return

Can you at least concede that the "conditions on the ground" defense has been used by Bush, Cheney, Tony Blair and their fellow war criminals to a point where no one believes it anymore?

It is a wholly dishonest argument, and we have seen Bush repeatedly defer the decisions for increasing troop levels to his Generals.

Of course any Generals who are against troop increases are forced to retire, slandered, transfered or somehow taken out of the picture.

For Powers to sing this exact same tune and not expect blowback is absurd. Given the NAFTA double talk, and a voting record that often runs counter to his rhetoric, Obama does not automatically deserve the benefit of the doubt here.

Of course he is still better than the fascist Hillary Clinton, and the angry little dude who's name rhymes with INSANE.

But I want more, much more from Obama on ending the war. This crime should have been brought to a halt in 2007 by de-funding it.

He needs to know, if elected, he will be expected to end it quickly.

I saw nothing wrong with the monster comment and wish Powers would have told people to get bent when they called for her resignation.

But on her BBC interview, she blew it. Obama can easily put out this fire by using clear language to tell us all how he will end the war in Iraq. posted 03/26/2008 at 13:21:08

This is up at rawstory too.

When a good man like Mike Gravel quits the party protesting its hypocrisy on the war, it should be big news. But it isn't, at least not here. Why?

Ohio Nurses' Union Busted By California Nurses

We need every union in our nation to be a strong as possible right now.

Never has there been such an all out assault on workers rights. Never has the gap between rich oligarchs and the working people been so wide.

I hate to see two unions fighting each other. There is not enough information in this post for me to get a clear picture of what is really happening here. But this story did get me interested, and I found this.

http://www.alternet.org/healthwellness/80411/

Brutal. So many organizations at first glance seem like the good guys, and on further inspection not so much.

This is a messy fight. The individual nurses are not being well served by this, nor are the patients and recipients of their care. posted 03/26/2008 at 12:56:10

3/19 Anti-War Rally Photos

Huffpost ignored the Winter soldier meetings and the anti-war marches. I had eight out of 12 comments with links to the Winter soldier web sites censored last week. Nice of you Mr. Weigant to post this but the coverage of this last week shows me that (on this issue) there is no difference between huffy and the mass media. Check out the michaelmoore site for serious coverage of anti-war efforts in our nation. posted 03/24/2008 at 18:35:52

JPMorgan Raises Bear Purchase Price

Many people following this story are investors, and consider themselves to be well informed on matters of finance.

Do you normally do your homework and research before investing?

Well just for fun, do some on JP Morgan. Learn some history while you are at it.

The Rothschilds based in England and much of Europe really did try to finance both sides of the US civil war, classic war profiteers.

Abe Lincoln really did get seriously pissed off at them, and threatened to start (responsibly) printing and backing his own money.

Abe Lincoln really did get assassinated soon after this threat.

The Rothschild family really did use JP Morgan as a front bank to expand their empire from Europe to the new world.

JP Morgan was instrumental in establishing the US Federal Reserve, an entirely corrupt institution.

JFK really did threaten to make drastic changes to the Fed Reserve.

Then he really did get assassinated.

Now we have a clear case of fraud by numerous banks, with Bear Stearns at the top of the list. Bankrupting thousands of hard working American families without consequence, and with no money to help the families.

And who shows up with more money than God to "help" clean up this mess?
JP Morgan, but they won't use their own money. So the Federal Reserve comes up with $200 billion for numerous bank bailouts that could have been used for any number of social programs.

Watch as Bear Stearns comes back to respectability and PROFITABILITY over the next several years, and JP Morgan the evil spawn of the Rothschilds gets richer and richer.

A Mosaic: 4,000 Americans Dead

A tragic milestone passed by Iraq itself less than a month into the war.

So many of us have to share some of the guilt for these crimes. We did not stop Bush. We did not stop this monster either.

It is not to late to impeach Bush and begin to face reality. We owe the Iraqis their freedom (from us) and reconstruction money. We need to let go of their oil and deal with our many many problems here at home. posted 03/24/2008 at 14:08:20

O'Reilly Attends Easter Services At Church Led by Ex-Nazi

Isn't that the whole point Meggie?

Make them uncomfortable in their own environment. Refuse to allow them their sanctuary from the harsh truth and their own complicity.

The very idea that they are more interested in their nice new clothes is the perfect reason to take this protest right up their ass and make em' squirm. They should not be able to sit in THAT pew in comfort, in denial, or without being challenged by the truth.

Jesus would have loved this small action.

No Meggie, this was not the wrong crowd. This was a bullseye! It exposed hypocrisy within the Catholic Church on the Iraq war. I would love to see action like this in the wacko fundie Christian extremist churches. This is the crowd that needs a reality check. posted 03/24/2008 at 14:54:05

CNN Trivializes Iraq and Hits a New Low

CNN are a despicable outfit. They have routinely lied to over-hype any danger or fear potential in many news stories.

Now here they are making light of protests to minimize their impact on a war they clearly favor.

Strange though, I feel I could easily accuse huffpo of doing the same thing in their recent coverage of the Tibet uprising. No comments allowed, trivial coverage, minor prominence for story placement and absolutely no highly critical coverage of China. Not very impressive. Disappointing. posted 03/20/2008 at 18:43:52
