Liveblogging the North Carolina and Indiana Primaries

Anne and others,

I like Senator McCaskill. She has been an early and fervent supporter who never fails to leave a positive impression .. well spoken, etc.

I also like Senator Jim Webb (VA), a former Sec'ty of the Navy (under Reagan), whose son is in Iraq, and who has blistered Sen. Graham and others who favor the war on the Sunday shows. Sen. Webb has stayed undeclared, which might be a good thing at this point.

What a day!! Thanks Bob Cesca, for your columns and for your "Tide is Turning" video.

Mr. Obama Goes to Washington

Trey Ellis is correct. One side of me loves that Obama insists on being himself, not wearing a meaningless flag pin; after all, how many crimes have been committed by those wearing that pin? Yet, I feel Barack has to remember that he will not be able to bring about any change if he does not win the White House, a prize that is within his grasp.

While I am not one of them, there are many who feel that the flag pin represents an acknowledgment of one's love of country, and Barack needs their vote. It's not pandering to wear it occasionally, explaining that true love of country means more than a pin, just like true support for the troops means more than placing a magnetic yellow ribbon on your car. It is by wearing the pin that Barack will get the attention of hopeless277 (above), and be able to broaden his understanding of well-meant patriotism.

Thank you, Mr. Ellis, for your thoughtful essay. posted 05/02/2008 at 14:08:31

The Tide Is Turning

This is such an uplifting video! I am so grateful to Bob Cesca for putting it together, and for finding this wonderful song. Barack Obama's words and tone are captured at their sincerest.

I am a fan of Cesca, and enjoy every column he writes. He never fails to "hit the nail" right on its head, pointing out things others frequently miss, but, most of all, helping us progressive types to keep the faith, always looking forward.

The tide is indeed turning. Thank you Bob! posted 03/30/2008 at 10:04:41
